The load has increased lately, but not to the point that it should bring a server down. The old server would be going along fine at a low server load, and then mysql would start to freeze up for no apparent reason causing the whole server to slow to a crawl.
I wonder if it was a memory problem on the old machine. The new one is the most powerful one EV1 offers, so hopefully we'll be good to go from here on out.

Thanks -RJ- figured this was what you were up to today as I was getting error messages insted of it just freezing - looking forward to surfing uninterrupted again.

Rj I had a server at www.vdi.net that did the same thing... Server load would be low and it would at random times jump to way over 100.00.
After 3 months of this the server finally died... the hard drive lost half the systems files and they tried to reinstall and the drive wouldnt save it. I upgraded to a better server and all was fine.

Nice and snappy. I think the problem has existed off and on for a couple of months but only got serious recently. The problem w/ intermittant probs is that they don't like to show up when two or more people are looking at them at the same time.
Also, it is often difficult to ascertain which end it is, or where the prob exists. Presently, I have 3 very odd probs that create inconveniences w/ 3 particular accounts, but everything else works great. Signs of "cybertrolls", it appears.:cy:
