Grab a name with Snap ? Dropwizard ? Namewinner ? Script ? What's the difference ?

Hello

I am new, hi for all !

I want to grab names and I am a bit lost :

I have 6 questions :

I buy snapnames on a name, but ultsearch with their script succeed, and so i paid snapnames for nothing. Is that service working for great names ?
Name winner doesn't seem to be very very successful ?
Drop wizard, i don't know if they are good or not.
What do you think about enoms ? Is is worth to use it ?
Do you know other good services for grabbing names
And what do you think about buying and using a script on my own ?

If you really want the name you need to utilize all sources snapnames, namewinner, pool, enom, godaddy, etc.. The more people are after the name the lower your chance on catching. The more drop services you use the better your chances. Its all a gamble, step up to the table and ante up.

Welcome to #1 Namepros, bruno10000.

Jolt is correct ... there are NO guarantees here in this regard. Some entities are extremely proficient with their scripts, monitoring and only go after very select drops ... which they have had on their target screen since prior to expiration. It IS what they do, and full-time I've read. Sanpnames, if not successful, may be reutilized for another domain name ... so on and so forth until the year expires. You have not "paid money for nothing" unless you aren't successful by the end of that term. I have had pretty good luck with Namewinner in the past ... though, IMHO, their bids are seemingly way off base lately. I have no experience with either Enom Drop Club or DropWizard. Developing a script on your own would likely incur more resources and still not guarantee anything. Put your best foot forward and roll the dice ... and try to increase your odds by utilizing all available services, IMHO.

DropWizard is awesome we have used them a couple of times and they have always been lucky.
But they fees start at $120.00 for a successful catch

Have you tried Pool.com seems to be the new guy on the Block and have been very successful lately. They charge $60.00 if they catch the name and names with multiple bids are placed up for auction once they catch them

Your own script will require a good server and resources
most scripts on the market only access Enom which has one of the slowest interfaces. Enom gets pretty fussy if you beak their rules with a script

I am going to use my snapnames on another name, and try pool.

what is IMHO ?

Please CenterPoint, may be could you indicate to me a script which access others registrars than enom ? (i am able to use some servers at the same time).

I am looking for names with high page rank (but with no TM !), for my business. My main purpose is not grabbing names whth high traffic.

BTW-- A script will not beat one of the aforementioned services. Those services all have RRP access giving them the ability to immeidately grab a name which becomes availible. Unless you secure RRP access (not easy); you can only dream.

IMHO, I have no idea what "RRP Access" means, though I have a guess. Would someone mind clarifying on this aspect?

RRP = Registry Registrar Protocol. Or something like that. In order to gain access to this privilige you must cut a deal with a registrar.

1. UltSearch uses SN too. I think he does not use his own scripts (at least not anymore).
If SN fails, you may change backorder to another name (unlimited times).
2. No, depends on a bid. If you bid 8$ i doubt they will catch it for you (unless nobody else is there to grab a domain). But if you bid 2.000$, then im sure they will do everything possible to get it

3. Sometimes. Not so often IMHO
4. No.
5. SN is the best for newbies. And stay away from Godaddy!
6. Not a good idea. Too slow for todays standards.

Its the special protocol which registrars use to write DNS zone files in the Main Registry.
Direct registry access is the best way for fast grabbing.
F.e. Scripts for grabbing a DN depend on a speed of authorization of their requests by the registrar, so they are slower. Direct registry access is much better way but nobody will give it to you unless you pay x0.000$.

well, if pool catches a name and others wanted it you are in an auction. Pool's auction tend to bring the very best prices.

Ok, I did some research, and it looks like I can secure RRP access. It would wind up taking up a cash flow of about 1K a month, for which you would also get 100 names registered. I don't need 100 names a month though. What should I do? Give up on the idea? Form a domainers co-op and find some n-ways to split the costs?
Ideas?
