What is WLS?

wls is the next in line to own a domain. There is only one slot open now as soon as wls goes live which has already been approved by icann. If a domain expires, whoever holds the slot gets the domain instead of the traditional wait and hope to get lucky on the drop.

Ur how do you get your wanted domains on the WLS? :D I guess you need to pay some kind of fee or something, but what else?

So that means, sites like Snapnames, Pool, and other backordering services would soon be out of business if they dont shift to WLS thing.

NOt necessaryly. WLS only applies to .com and .net for the time being. Drops will be held as normal for all other extensions. Even so, registrars and not just netsol will be selling these wls slots.

Nextregistrationrights currently charges 39$ for WLS. Is it possible that other cheap registrars would charge lesser than that?

WLS sounds like a great way for registrars to make money and a terrible method for domainers. Also, big companies can take out all sorts of WLS slots and will likely get any good names automatically...

WLS has not went live yet. It has only been approved. eNom is currently selling dibs on WLS subscriptions for $35 so the answer is yes. The ratio between subscription price would probably be the same as it is with backorder prices amongst regisrars. The only one that wins on something like this is Verisign and of course the lottery ticket winner :D.

39 per year, Just for the IF lol, well I suppose you could get an okay domain out of the deal .... I don't think I like wls though and I don't even backorder domains. :D

I think that's quite funny how they'll happily accept your $39 yearly subscription to domains that don't expire for 10 years.

If you guys have noticed, sunrise has already begin for WLS. I am assuming that it has begin for select private inside people. Many domains appear as "unavailable" when your try to do a que at NRR. One domain belonging to me shows this also, so I am assuming somebody likes my name lol. The big players will snap all WLS slots that are worth takeing no matter what the expiration date is and this will only drive .net and .com prices strait through the roof. My guess is the insiders will have their time to do research on which would be likely candidtates to grab and leave semi precious slots for people like me. And for dnbuydomain I don't see why you would want to "sue" any registrar for offering "WLS" it sounds like your do not know what you are talking about. You wouldn't get anywhere, they are only selling/reselling a service. Plus I am sure you would need deep pockets to go through the thousands of registrars out there. The smart thing would be to sue the source, which I am pretty sure Verisign expects many lawsuits on top of the pending ones. They have pockets so deep, you can take them to court for the rest of your life and you would run out of money before they did. My conclusion is hold on to what "good" domains you have because WLS as we think will benefit domainers surely will, just only a select few.

What if i'm one of those who want to get a certain domain. Then someone else got the domain. Would i be refunded of 39$ for the WLS fee?

Theres is only one WLS slot. Once the slot is secured and the domain becomes expired, the person holding the slot gets the domain so there is no chance of somebody else getting the domain assuming that the current owner lets it expire.
