Is it even worth getting a Domain Catching SCRIPT?

I've wondered about the same thing. Pool and NW are pretty good at what they do.

there is too much of a monopoly now, i dont think any new competitor can enter the market.

Im not really going into it to provide a service, but to get domains for personal use.

if you think you are catching domain which not much domainers are after, you can use a drop script.

A drop script is hard to compete with backorder company.

True, im going for a 3 char, which probably every backorder company is after. This whole monopolizing thing needs to come at rest. Hopefully Network solutions will take care of it.

Going after a 3 char with your own drop script is a waste of time, too much money to be made on the auctions to let that one slip by to a private script.

I have an ENOM php script I found on the web. I've not tried it. Since I have an Enom reseller acct and use Club Drop, I couldn't see the script being any more effective than enom itself. Could be wrong?

But more importantly, is there any point with WLS coming? As I understand, we won't be using name grabbing services after that is implemented anyway??

THanks Goldy. I just read about WLS. Seems good and bad at the same time. The good thing is there wont be a monopoly on the domains, the bad thing is all the good domains will be EXTREMELY hard to get, because of the people to be waiting in line.

It is tough to grab anything with a script nowadays. Not like few years ago when you'll land a good name about once a week. I've been absent from the domain scene for the last several years. Now I am back in the scene hearing about WLS. I restarted my script last week and was able to make a few ok catches. I grabbed dictionary words like servitudes.com and brainiacs.net. I also grabbed an Alexa-ranked name, approvedcorporatehousing.com. I think the way to play the game is too analyze zone files to see which domain names are about to be on-hold. Once you found those names, you would need to pounce on SnapNames to reserve those names before anybody else does.
