I just bought the name, then tried to get it listed at Sedo, with a lowball figure in mind. Sedo rejected my listing, as its already listed.

No, I did not get it appraised. But the previous owner must have, as Sedo policy won't let you list anything ove $10000 without an appraisal.

Maybe not wrong for a german person. There language does use hyphens often.

Seriously, I only had a value very much less than $1k in mind. But now am not so sure. Should I get it appraised, you think? Professional Sedo appraisals include some amount of strategizing and leads on how to sell the domain.

wow it is very high. I think maybe you should just get it appraised or maybe just keep it at that and see if anyone will get it. You can always have luck.

Thanks for comments so far.

Has anyone here on Namepros actually had a domain appraised by Sedo? Was it worth it?

not to take away from the value of your domain ..

but SEDO 'grandfathered' in the old domain values.

Meaning only 'newer' domains being listed have to have a listed value - any domain that was in the database prior to this change was left as such.

What do you mean? New listings don't require a listed value at all; instead, they would be listed as 'make offer'. What is required is a Sedo appraisal for listings over $10,000.

Anyway, thanks for the info. When did the 'grandfathering' of old domain values take place?

I have not, and wish I could be of more assistance regarding that Armstrong. My thinking here, someone owned a domain name listed ("Asking price") at Sedo for $50,000 Euros ... and then allowed it to expire (assuming that's how you acquired it). I don't see that kind of value in the domain (being both hyphenated and in the ".INFO"), and if it were mine I might pursue the idea of this Appraisal, and clarification as to its current listing and requirements ... in the hope that it may also provide me with some of that strategizing and "leads", as you mentioned.
PS. The non-hyphenated appears to be parked, and also "For Sale" ... I might make any inquiry there as to their Asking price, as well.
Best of Luck here.

I agree with CH on this one. Try contacting the owners of the non-hyphenated version to see what they're asking. Good luck with your domain and be sure to keep us updated!

Hmm. I tried going to the tvshopping.info website, and they flat out stated that they don't like my IP address. Now why would they do a snobbish thing like that? The domain is owned by some guy in Hungary.

I sent them an email, though.

How rude! :p

:tu:

Please keep us posted on that, and the Sedo thing (should you decide it's right for you to pursue, of course).
See you soon.
B-)

Hi Armstrong,

I have recently had a domain name appraised by sedo, as I am selling up the company handling the deal suggested I get one done.

If you want to see what their report looks like :

All the best

Thanks, Richard! This will be a great help.

It is pretty general, but does show that at least a bit of thought has gone into their appraisal.
Doubt it would impress a reseller, but does look good to an end user.

$30 Goodluck! :tu:

Nice name.
End user might worth few hundreds.
Not much value to reseller, as it is a .info
