Marks & Clerk Warns Brand Owners About the Growing Importance of .SI Domains
International intellectual property law firm Marks & Clerk has published an interesting article titled “From AI to SI: A New Challenge for Brand Owners?”
The firm highlights the explosive growth of .SI registrations, from approximately 190,700 in August to over 420,000 by mid-October 2026.
More importantly, Marks & Clerk advises companies to consider defensively acquiring matching .SI domains to protect their brands.
The article also points out that recovering a disputed .SI domain can be more complicated than under the standard UDRP process, particularly because of Slovenia-specific legal requirements.
This is an interesting development for the .SI aftermarket. Brand protection could become an additional source of corporate demand, beyond domain investors and speculative registrations.
