Glad we cleared the air then. Just remember "hate" is a very strong word in the human intelligence dictionary.
Glad everything got cleared up. Emotions and misunderstandings can blow things out of proportion, it isn't until real hardships occur do we realize how insignificant arguments can be when compared to lifes greatest struggles.
It's been over a year since I last posted, and in that time my whole world got turned upside down. My sister passed away, and everything I thought mattered, just doesn't seem to matter anymore.
I was too blinded by domains, or whatever the hell I thought mattered at the time, to realize I was neglecting everything that really matters (or in this case, mattered) to me. That's what I hate.
I am all in with first name .si domains
I find myself now living in this alternate reality, where go figure .si domains have actually taken off in the super intelligence field, and that the US Government is trying to rename AI to SI. That's something I didn't have on my bingo card. I had registered my first .AI domain in August for veteran hackathon where we built a chatbot to assist with veteran education. I found myself talking to [redacted chatbot name] and when the SI thing started to take off, I started looking at the first name .si market on September 25th.
I noticed many of the common names were gone, albeit there were a lot more available .si first names two weeks ago than there is today.
I managed to pick up a few lower tier first names like Bertha, Krista, and even Artie prior to namebio reporting artie.ai sold for $69k.
I wasn't looking at this from a domainer perspective like the majority of my other purchases, this was thinking if I continue to get into chatbot development, maybe I could shelve a few reg-fee .si options in case this trend really does take off, and .si would be notable enough to launch on.
Then I saw my sisters name, Katie, available for $150.
This brought up black mirror esque type thinking, wanting to reincarnate my sister through a chatbot. But really, when I thought about it, my sister was the most giving person I ever knew, she never had much, but she'd always put others before herself, giving the shirt off her back, even if that meant going without. That's why, to me at least, the name Katie represents somebody who's always willing to help, no questions asked, just a singular purpose. I contemplated looking for .org versions of her name, as Katie is a nickname, but while starting organizations to honor somebodies legacy is a common outlet for grief, I couldn't get past the thought, that if Katie was here for me, she would prioritize wanting to help people over making money. That's why chatbots have a unique opportunity to be able to become subject matter experts in closed loops, able to help an infinite amount of people, so if I can think of a meaningful way to honor her legacy, I want her name to be a chatbot assisting people in area's that matter, whatever that TBD may be.
By the time I went to purchase, the price had risen to $499. So I thought a little more, and when I went back to purchase the price was around $1,000.
I remember looking at alternative names priced around $1,000 to see what the market was like, and at this point I remember the strongest names for $1,000 was Jose.si. It has an interesting spanish si play, but if I was spending $1,000 on a speculative domain, I needed to be sure I could either recoup the funds, or have a use for the domain myself. Being a domainer, and dealing with grief, I could not get Katie.si off my mind. It was becoming to the point where spending $1,000 was a steal if that meant I could have an outlet to channel my grief.
Then, ready to spend $1,000, the seller had raised the price to $2500 or so. I reached out via spaceship make offer, and had a very nice discussion with the seller who was experiencing his own version of FOMO having sold some great names during the boom for pre-boom prices, so he wasn't too interested in more low $$$ offers. I ended up purchasing it for $950. I ended up reg-fee'ing a few more first name .si, thinking maybe I can hedge my Katie purchase by selling some lower tier names. Really though, I'm so broken right now, still having a hard time caring about money, domaining, and most things in life. Just directionless. So if Katie.si can lead me to some purpose, whatever that may be, I'm all for it.
Thanks for allowing me some space to grieve and attempt to process. I started doing some first name .si research that I was a little bit proud of, and when I thought I should return to namePros to post the research, and share the story behind Katie.si, I started crying uncontrollably. Crying a little bit now as I write this. It's just real hard to accept the current reality, the reality where my sister is longer with us, and where .SI is the new .AI. I've always found this thread remarkably interesting, and as interesting as it is, I'd give anything to wake up tomorrow only to find this has all been a domainer dream, or in my case a domainer nightmare.
Anyways, without further ado, I present you first name .si research using the top 2500 us first names from 1880 to 2007 + 1000 top us boys/girls first names whcih runs through 2025, and finally some friendly -ie, -y, -i names that may not be official SSA (Social Security Administration) data but serve as functional nicknames. Since the names are an average of popularity dating back to 1880, you may notice some forign sounding names in the list.
