I have lost my mind and spent my children's christmas fund buying catchy domain names. I have always had a talent when it come to words and acronyms, so I made a foolish decision to invest in something I have no idea how to resell. Most are certified (whatever that means) and private (I paid extra for both! I bought all 69 of them this weekend. I couldn't help myself. I can invision a business in seconds and I have always been an inventor, but have never had the resources to do anything about it. Now I am scared I cannot make my money back (what I had for my girl's Christmas this year) Someone please tell me what to do. I listed some on ebay. They are really good names and I know each one could be an awesome business or investment. I should have thought more about this business of reselling before I spent the money! HELP!!!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You really need to talk to someone (professional) if you are making such foolish decisions....

Perhaps you should offer the names for sale so people can see what you are talking about.

What one person thinks is a good catchy name may not be so for another.

Good Luck,

Victoria

I think you are right! I have never done such a foolish thing like this before. I was just fooling myself into thinking I could give them a Huge Christmas. Thank you for atleast replying to me even though it has made me feel worst!

If you registered them at GoDaddy, call them and see if you can cancel and get a refund for the "Certified" and Privacy services. They're nearly useless, and overpriced.

Post some of the best names here, [edit: yes, just add them in a reply] and you'll get feedback on their quality/sales potential. Be prepared for blunt honesty, although I wish you retroactive good luck in having registered something valuable.

How long has it been since you registered these? If you want to get your money back for some/all of the domains, many registrars allow you to cancel and get a refund within the first 5 days. Call them up and ask.

Best of luck!

No one here is vicious, however, this forum just like any other forum has rules and dedicated sections where we should post.. You can post discussions in the following section: link

To sell the domains please use the For Sale sections or the Make Offer Sections.

For Appraisals, we have a section for that also :)

If you are posting in Domain Discussion, please don't post them for sale or appraisals.
Moving work is in reply (for the mods) to the thread being posted in the wrong section.

No one here is trying to be vicious, that was a strong comment to make!
They are just trying to help you learn so every post you make doesn't get deleted.

For a newbie that is the wrong statement to make.
Please post the correct forums next time as "here"
is the wrong section!

Thank you, vicious was the wrong word, painfully honest would have been better, that you for the direction!

Sorry miss_chiff, should have been more specific.

spoilmepeas2: It sounds like you're looking for a quick sale here, and I don't see that happening with these domains. .info's are considered far less desirable than .com's. Also, the one mentioning facebook contains a trademarked term, which is risky (Facebook could seize it from you).

Consider who you'd be selling to. If you're selling to other domain investors (so called "reseller sales") these aren't worth anything. The other option is to sell to end-users. This is far more difficult, and again I don't see that happening with these.

The only way you'll sell one of these for folding money is if you develop it into a profitable website. Is that something you are willing to invest the time, grief, and probably more money to do? Probably not. It takes a long time to develop the skills to come out ahead.

So, my advice is to call GoDaddy and see if they'll give you a refund. Maybe pick 2 or 3 of the best ones to keep if you still want to get your toes wet.

First off a very warm welcome to Namepros :hi:

Golden rule is never spend what you can not afford. Yes this can be a very profitable business but, times are difficult for the best of us at the moment and sure as hell very difficult for new members. I suggest you stop all buying at this time and read and learn. There is so much information to take in before you hit the buy button and even with a wealth of information, you can still make mistakes. I am in chat atm if you wanna pop in for a chat. I am not the best domainer in the world but can answer some questions and if I cant, always know someone whom can. Take care

Thread closed....

spoilmepeas2...I think many of the members here have given you some advice on where to post.
I am going to close this thread as there isn't actually any one section of the forum it can go to as it covers...discussion...names offered for sale...appraisals.

Please feel free to post in the appropriate section(s) but please take the time to read some of the posts in the section first to make sure you are in the correct one(s)

Hope it all works out.
