I see that new crypto escrow company Escrowly is now advertising on namePros. I wonder if that is a good decision made by @NamePros. As @jberryhill has pointed out on X, they are using a complete copy of Escrow.com's website - down to the amount in the example transaction - and use a Gmail as their Whois contact email. There also seem to be license issues.

Fair point @Embrand and I completely agree, trust has to be earned.

We are still a young company, and theres been a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes to build Escrowly properly. We know that work alone doesn’t earn trust. That comes from proving ourselves, transaction by transaction, over time.

We are also very open to feedback from people who have been in this industry much longer than we have. If you see something we can improve, please tell us. We would love to listen, learn, and keep making Escrowly better day by day.

We have a long way to go, but we’re genuinely excited about the journey.
The #1 asset an escrow company has is trust.

So, do you think it is wise to basically just clone the Escrow.com website?

Same design. Same wording.

A young company, with 1m+ users?

I am sorry, but there are red flags all over the place.

Y'all focusing on them copying the escrow.com website (which I agree is deplorable), when there's a big red flag right here: "98% Secure Transactions". Who's going to take their 1-in-50 chance to get scammed? :xf.rolleyes:

@bmugford @Future Sensors Hi, and thanks for raising the question.

It’s a fair question, especially when a company is handling other people’s money, so we appreciate the opportunity to clarify.

Escrowly is registered with FinCEN as an MSB, Registration No. 31000296483208. We do not present that registration as a state escrow license, and we agree that those are two different things. Escrowly is also a crypto escrow platform, so our regulatory analysis isn’t necessarily identical to that of a traditional escrow company handling fiat transactions. The requirements can depend on the transaction structure and the jurisdiction involved, which is why we look at these matters on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis.

We are also a young company. We are not going to pretend we have the decades of history or the licensing footprint of Escrow (.com). They have built a very established business, and we respect that.

What we are trying to build is something different; a simple crypto escrow platform focused on stablecoins and the way people actually transact in today’s global digital economy.

We are continuing to develop our regulatory and compliance framework as we grow .. and we’d rather be transparent about where we are than make claims that go further than the facts.

We will also be reviewing our public wording to make sure there’s no confusion between being registered as an MSB and being "licensed by FinCEN." Fincen itself makes clear that MSB registration is not a license.

We genuinely welcome the scrutiny. If you are trusting a company with your money, these are exactly the kinds of questions people should ask. and if anyone has a specific state or transaction structure they would like us to address, we are happy to discuss it.
I am certainly no expert in escrow licensing, but I hope you have legal counsel that is.

Because, with just a cursory glance I don't think being in "crypto" exempts you from MTL licenses in many states.

Escrow.com, market leader and 25+ years old, "only" just passed 3 million customers, after being acquired by Freelancer.com in 2015 and growing steadily since.

Escrowly claims that it's a young company still building out its compliance framework, and already has more than 1 million individuals and businesses internationally, roughly a third of Escrow.com's entire quarter-century user base, with no matching transaction volume, funding news, or review activity to back it up.

In fact, if you've really got 1MM+ customers, why have only 50K+ transactions actually been successfully processed?

And if that user base is really spread internationally, that's not only one license you're missing. Money transmitter licensing is triggered per state/country based on where your customers are. So, how many jurisdictions are you actually licensed in, out of however many you're claiming customers in?

It's worth remembering that overstating user numbers to a financial services audience isn't a gray area for whoever signs off on your marketing copy. It's the fact pattern regulators and plaintiffs' attorneys actually go looking for.

I appreciate the honest feedback, and I think you are right that we have to earn the trust.

One thing I do want to clarify is that Escrowly.com is not trying to be Escrow.com with a different logo. We have actually built around a very different model. We are crypto based stablecoin-focused, not a traditional fiat escrow business, and a lot of the workflows and infrastructure behind the platform are designed specifically around crypto transactions not for any fiat transactions like conventional old escrow system.

And yes, our website may feel familiar in places. Escrow is a concept people already understand, and we wanted the experience to feel familiar rather than confusing. But underneath that, we’ve been building something quite different.

We are already processing real transactions, including smaller everyday transactions, and we are working hard to grow that responsibly. One correction on our side: the “1M+ customers” wording was too broad, and we’re reviewing it. We should have communicated our traction more accurately.

We’re still early. We’ve put an enormous amount of work into getting here, but we know that doesn’t entitle us to anyone’s trust.

We’d rather earn it, transaction by transaction!

And honestly, feedback from experienced people here is valuable to us. Keep pointing things out. We are listening, and we want Escrowly to be better a year from now than it is today.

Thanks to all!

Off by ~1M?

It is not an issue of being too broad. The problem is that statement is just false.

A new company obviously does not have 1m+ customers.

An escrow company operates on trust. Making a false claim destroys trust.

Also, are any of these reviews on Escrowly.com even real?

For instance, how about the one from "Yuliya".

So you start by imitating Escrow.com's website? If you have more than 1 million customers already, I guess you don't even have to advertise anymore.

I do welcome new players, but you have to earn trust.

Show attachment 312306

I appreciate the concept behind it. There's a significant contrast between the image you shared and what I see. I notice that this involves crypto, whereas the other one is strictly USD. This is crypto, which means there's no security or, I suppose, no KYC like the others. Not everyone is prepared to keep going through KYC processes, especially since you're using card payments. Nowadays, companies should have competitors; escrow dot cum has negatively impacted many users in various ways.

Just because a company is willing to pay @NamePros money for advertising doesn't mean they should accept it.

Namepros is a free platform that demands a significant amount of resources to operate. IMO: If transition to a paid membership model, it would allow them to restrict any advertisements from anyone.

If you are taking advertising dollars to promote a product, you are tacitly endorsing it.

So, @NamePros better be sure to do proper due diligence. Because, their credibility is on the line also.

Multiple red flags have been pointed out now by NamePros members.

One more thing worth raising.

The Escrowly website lists Real Estate among the transaction types it supports. That's a different regulatory question entirely.

In the USA, Real Estate escrow is typically licensed under state escrow or Real Estate-specific laws (for example, California's DFPI escrow license, which requires a bonded California escrow corporation with a designated officer meeting experience thresholds), rather than under money transmitter statutes or FinCEN MSB registration.

So even a full slate of state money transmitter licenses wouldn't, on its own, authorize you to operate as a Real Estate escrow agent.

Do you currently hold any state‑level Real Estate or escrow licenses, or is "Real Estate" on the website more aspirational than something you're actually equipped to handle today?

And then the "Global Leader in Crypto Escrow" language. Leader by what measure, exactly?

You are right, Brad. Calling it “too broad” was not the right way to describe it. The 1M+ customers statement was inaccurate, and we should not have published it.

We take that seriously, especially because trust is the foundation of what we’re building.

We’re correcting the wording across our website and marketing materials and will make sure any figures we publish going forward are accurate and clearly supported.

We are a young company, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. We do have real transactions and real users today, but we should let our actual numbers and our work speak for themselves.

We made a mistake here, and we’re fixing it. No excuses.

Thanks for calling it out. We’d rather correct something publicly and get it right than defend something we shouldn’t have said in the first place.

I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to raise these points. We are listening.

We’re still a young company, and we know there’s a lot to learn and improve. Some of the feedback here has already helped us identify areas where we can make things clearer and better, and w are working on making more improvements day by day.

We passionately love to hear from people who use Escrowly, whether it’s something you like, something that feels confusing, or something you think we should improve.

We are building this for the community and we want to keep getting better with the community.

Thanks again for the honest feedback. It’s appreciated!

It's more honest than the fake reviews on your site, at least.

Speaking of which, that one's still unanswered.

@Bravo Mod Team An escrow company's entire value proposition is trust. Escrowly has now had to walk back false user numbers, hasn't addressed the fake reviews on its own site, and none of it was volunteered. It all came out under pressure. I think that's enough to draw a conclusion. I wish you wisdom in deciding how to proceed.

"Blind trust can trap you" is good advice, it's just a strange slogan for a company that's spent this whole thread being pressed to walk back unverified claims.

Honestly, we welcome the scrutiny. 🙂 .. sure sure please check how it works and all we would love to hear more and more and keep it coming

Escrowly is already being used by people, including namepros, and we would love to see that grow more and more.

Test us. Use the platform. Tell us what you like, what you don’t like, and what you think we can do better.

We’re still young, and we certainly don’t have everything perfect. But that’s exactly why we want feedback from the community. The more people use it and challenge us, the better we can make it!so please let it keep coming we need brutal users as well so that will make the product best!

We'd rather let our work and our users speak for us. :)

@Future Sensors sure fair enough. 🙂 blind trust is exactly what escrow is meant to replace.

Test us. Challenge us. Tell us where we can do better

We will keep listening and earning trust one transaction at a time.
