Hello all, first post so bear with me...

Own a few domains, couple of running sites and a few not yet started (nothing spectacular)

However have just received an email from a CSC global stating the following...

"I work for CSC Digital Brand Services, a corporate domain name registrar and a subsidiary of Corporation Service Company, a leading provider of business, legal, and financial services.

We are interested in purchasing the domain name xxx.xxx, a name which according to the Whois, is registered to you. Please let me know if you would be interested in selling the domain and if so, what price range would you consider? "

Obviously done a bit of research on line to find out about them, but cant really find anything where they direct email individuals to acquire domain names....

Any help or advice would be gratefully received...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Just send them a reply with a price. If their next email asks for an Appraisal Certificate, you can be sure this is just a scam.

I have replied asking them to make the first offer, is that sensible or should i put a value on it? (sales novice you see)

That's not bad, now just sit and wait for their reply. Who knows, maybe you will hit the JackPot :xf.wink:

CSC is a legit brand protection company like Mark Monitor. If they really sent the email (i.e., not phishing using their brand) then you can bet it's an honest inquiry, most likely from a large brand.

What Paul mentioned. I sold a name thru them/Afternic to Burger King.

It's a big company other big companies like to use to kind of hide who they are. Go big, stay big, they're experienced at negotiating, stick to a number you're happy with.

I was contacted by a similar company Marksmen a couple of times now. These types of companies are legitimate and are usually hired by a corporation. In my case this proved to be true.

can you give us idea (no need to provide exact) what kind of name, length, product, character types, extension, etc?

CSC is legit and represents some large companies. I sold a domain to them last week for well into 5 figures.

I read this post on dotweekly.com earlier today, which happened to remind me of this post, so I presumed that was your sale. Congrats!

Thank you, for sharing.
That's the type of email we would all like to wake-up to on a Monday morning. And great to read NP members identifying the source (If verified). It's a shame that so much 'Cloak-and-dagger' stuff surrounds domain selling and buying today. Congrats to CSC Global for being at the forefront for integrity

Ah, but how do we know you're the REAL Paul Nicks? And who is this GoDaddy company you work for? :)

I just received a similar email from CSCGlobal, I asked them to make an offer. Do you mind sharing what was the process like? Were you able to negotiate for a higher amount?

"
If this email is reaching Mr. xxx we would
like to engage in a discussion around the possibility of purchasing <
xxxxxx > via email using the email address displayed in the signature
below.
