It depends on each guy's experience, I see that some guys have good experience with them, others have bad. I also had in the past but now I move to Godaddy, Namecheap, Name and Namesilo. IMO

I used to be a 1&1 customers and never met any problem. Lucky me!
But the reason for that luck I think because I transfered my name out early. Other, many of people I knew they were charged money for no reason and hard to get refund.
Took times.
After many customers complained, now all good promotions of 1&1 are available for US only!!!!
So @Rinkuji make your decison with your own opinion and experience maybe.
