Hi, first time poster here!

I have a domain name registered with GoDaddy. A few days ago, someone contacted me via email about buying it from me. I looked a bit into the options for securely selling and then transferring the domain name to that person and came up with 2 options that looked alright:

1) Sedo
2) GoDaddy Auctions

I noticed that Sedo has cheaper commission fees, so I'm probably going with Sedo.

However, I was wondering about the technical process for transferring the ownership of the domain over to my buyer once the sale via Sedo is complete? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...I really don't want to mess this up.

You don't need either. Once you've negotaited a price if it's cheap then just Paypal and free push to his/her godaddy account if thats where its hosted. If its more then go to escrow.com and view their services.

Yeah, avoid contacting Sedo and Godaddy brokers if you have already negotiated the deal. They will take 10-20% for doing nothing. I've never used Sedo's Escrow service but they say they charge 3%... Escrow.com is 3% at $1k, highly recommended. Ecop is similar about 4.5% on $1K but limited to $5,000. Escrowhill.com 5% on $1k.

Use calculators on these sites for other dollar amounts, since minimum amounts for low value transactions can inflate the numbers. Percentages decrease for larger transactions.
