Are .WS TLD domains going up

While looking for key words and trying to stick within the TLD's this is what I could find. But it seems like, people are suggesting, that a worse keyword under .com is better, not sure I get that... is it because of the SEO ranking of .com vs .ws but how can you beat a great keyword?
