Top 10 reasons why I like domaining

Inspired by the 'Are you giving up on domaining yet' thread I have tried to compile a list of the reasons why I am so hooked on domaining. Here they are – in no particular order: 1) You can domain at any time, or at all times, 24 hours a day. The market is global – when they’re sleeping in the...

How long before you sold your first domain?

The problem is that unless you have experience, you don't know what to look for. It is no problem wasting $2000 on the aftermarket on one p**spoor domain; there are tonnes of crappy domains priced at $x,xxx - just look at Sedo. Finding good domains requires experience - a newbie is better off...

What I learnt during my first month of domaining...

1. Read more, buy less Those killjoys who tell you to read more before you start hoarding domains? They're actually on to something. All those extremely cool brandables you just thought out, like GadGetaLife.com, will probably be a hard sell unless an enduser suddenly wakes up one day just...

various Report Completed Domain Name Sales Here

Pleasant surprise I hand regged 3 .info domains last year for 18 cents, thinking that I would be no worse off if I could not sell them. After a few months of no interest I reduced the price to $10 at GoDaddy auction, thinking no more about it. Then, all of a sudden, last week I received an...

showcase Showcase and Discuss Kumquat/Cumquat/Quat domains

KumquatKonspiracy.com and KumquatWealthManagement.com are already taken. MAN, I'm always too late in on the new trends. Guess I missed the boat on this one, too. :(

discuss The after effects of "showcase" threads

Wow... interesting thread, to say the least. I think equity78 summed it up nicely and wisely in the thread above both on the professional and personal level. Nevertheless, I have to admit when i saw the heading on the main page "the after effects...", I thought the thread would be about...

Domain Appraisal Folder is Losing Value

After you have been here for a while, you learn who to trust and who not to trust, simple as that. I, for one, always appreciate it when e.g. sdsinc and mugford take the time out to give appraisals. What annoys me in the appraisals section are all the newbies throwing out wild appraisals as...

Is GoDaddy Premium Listing Worth It?

Back to the OP: I think a notable difference is that a buyer can buy a premium domain without being a member of TDNAM, at least that is my understanding. It would be just like registering a domain for the buyer, except the price. I.e. a person who has never been interested in domain purchases...

Amusing Domain Name Queries From Clueless Numpties

@ Fonzie, I agree that it preferable to respond politely to all enquiries, but do you not to an extent contradict what you recently said in this thread: http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/784065-just-got-what-seems-legit-offer.html#post4451086 Your message then was that you had no...

Emailing potential buyers - What emailing system to use?

No, actually it's not. Among other things such emails also have to be untargeted to qualify as spam. It is a widely held misconception that all unsolicited commercial emails are spam. That is not the case. On the contrary, the legal starting point is that a business is permitted to send out...

What's behind a 5-figure sale?

Well, I assume the $10 group is larger, because I think there are many, many more people buying hand reg domains than buying $10k domains. But the relative success rate of each group? We don't have any statistics of that. People keep their failures to themselves - that's human nature. Having...

What is your forecast for the next couple of years when it comes to domaining.

I think the new gTLDs - together with apps - will change the Internet landscape completely. Yes, I am aware that so far new gTLD launches have failed, but I do not think the past can be used to shed light on the future in this case. The new gTLDs, due to sheer mass alone, will dissolve the .com...

status-resolved Mod, I Need to View my Sent PMs for a Case of Intellectual Property Investigation

To answer your question: If you go to your user control panel - Private Messages (far down on the left), you will find something called "Sent Items" in a subfolder to your Inbox. You should be able to find all PMs you haven't deleted there unless you have sent more than 500 messages, in which...

Top 10 reasons why I like domaining

Yeah, isn't that the truth  I woke up this morning and had won one auction and sold another domain at TDNAM, not for a great price or anything, but it was a domain I had completely given up on. What a great way to start the day!
