I wouldn't say dried up, more like a humongous cloud that's just waiting to dump rain. As LucidDomains says, it's "the calm before the storm". The free Cardboards that are being given out are just the beginning to create the awareness, when the higher-end products come out I bet things will pick...

I've been checking expireddomains a lot lately and i can see that the VR domain drop effect some of us has been expecting after a year is starting up. Not too many yet, but watch for around June or July I think there will be a deluge of dropping VR domains.
