TM question regarding generics & typos

If I followed correctly, why would they pay you to hang on to the domain when they can do it themselves by registering it or getting it from you assuming they can? Note: Not a lawyer either.

I've really never thought of why it was like that, I guess in case you wanted to make them somewhat distinct later on? I'll look into other methods. I think that might be what I need, thanks for the link!

It depends, a news post could be linked to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, or any combination of a variety of platforms, there could also be news that isn't attached to a platform. So if "Test Post" was attached to the DS, Xbox 360, and PS2 it should only show up for 1 of the platforms on the main page.

Getting rid of domain after letter from solicitor

I'm looking into ways of filtering out duplicate content on my CMS, currently the way it does things is if you post a news piece across three different platforms it will appear three times on the front page. I want to change it so it will only show up once on the front page if multiple content...

How do you start domain disput process?

I agree, a C&D or even approaching them would be a much better option, perhaps they don't realize they are violating anything or would be willing to listen saving you both a lot of time and money.

If I followed, I wouldn't sell the domain to anyone else either because if the company decides to take action in the future the blame can travel up the chain through the original owners as well. If you really have no interest in the domain just contact the company and give it to them, if...

That sucks, but I guess I can see their point as I'm sure for every legit site using domain privacy there would be 50-100 sites using it for the wrong reasons. If such a thing were to occur DubDubDubDot, would that also mean registrars based in the US couldn't provide domain protection...

I guess it depends on how well known you are or not, these companies probably don't have people typing in domain combinations all day. There are companies now that will monitor, Facebook, Twitter, etc for other companies to deal with such things, it's usually a way for companies to see what...

Don't know about stores but various gaming sites have PlayStation, Xbox, Ninendo, etc in their domain names and don't receive trouble from the companies, some are even in constant contact with those companies to boot. If you want to turn that domain into a serious website I'd contact Sony...

Turnkey Search engine style site with features, aged with traffic

The site isn't working, the search feature generates an error and the videos thing doesn't even work. Edit: Can you add the search database? How does the site work? Is it running a custom script or a "available" one (such as Wordpress for instance).

I noticed some domain providers such as 1and1 have a TOS that you essentially accept when you search for a domain using it as a provider where it claims you can't use the information for spam among other things unless you have permission from the owner. Has anyone who uses a domain provider...

I got my first letter a few months ago, it looked really official and I thought I had to do something about my domains that was government related. After reading through the leader I found out it was a solicitation and trashed it. Got a few more after that on domains I thought were protected...

Thanks for the input, never thought of it like that. I guess I can still include the file after factoring all of the other things as well. Nothing is every 100% after all but it doesn't hurt trying to get close enough! :p
