I am not from India but as member "Fancy Domains" said it covers a huge amount of population. 1.5 billion people cannot be dismissed. I understand from the viewpoints herein exposed that it is a risky TLD and that it may or not "work". Still, owning a couple of "good ones" cannot hurt at this...

Hi, I personally think .desi has good potential. And hopefully, it will not encounter the same issues as with the .in ? I have noticed a lot of great .desi domains have been taken yet. Is this a sign ? A good one ? No sign at all ? Who can tell (predict) with certainty the outcome of a TLD ?

I see some value in it since CPC is in the range of $ 3.10 - 6.19 and PPC competition is there already. However, all the 1st page sites containing the keyword "Water Resource" are either info or gov sites, and yes they would be very difficult to beat if you chose to build a page around this...
