Sedo reported that Oxygen.us sold for $17,999 in their latest domain name sales report. This is the highest reported .us sale over the past two years and the fourth highest of the last five years. yea. that's a bit of a head scratcher IMO.

digital companies really love a single word domain.

Oxygen.us is at least better than oxygen.co which only leads to confusion for the general masses. As I have said before, .us has inherent value. The domains look good and sound good. The only thing missing from the equation is cultural acceptance in the US. But it's 2020, and the digital world is moving at light speed, especially these days. It was recently headlined that due to the pandemic online retail has risen from 15% of total retail sales to a healthy 25% of all retail.

One thing for certain - online presence is more essential than ever before.

USA!

On a serious note, oxygen.us sounds way better & the "us" makes it feel more community-oriented, having bank in your domain sounds gimmicky, no major bank uses that keyword

I wonder if the high profile of zoom.us (yes, I know they have the .com but just use it for redirection). has had a positive impact on .us of late.

I agree with @DigitalRoar that it works nice with both the us meaning, as well as USA country code.

The combination of OxygenBank.com and Oxygen.bank, which I take it from article they possessed earlier, though, was not bad at all.

Branding on just oxygen, while positive in some ways, is also problematic because others operate on just that word too (e.g. I browsed how the .com is currently used).

Anyway, encouraging news for those who invest in .us. Thanks for pointing out the sale with your article @equity78.

I have experienced that much of my .us domain interest comes from outside of the United States. Country codes are big in other countries and I think that foreign companies wish to secure the .us domain in order to capture American business. At least to appear more "American".
Two things appear to be driving the market somewhat. 1. The recent acquisition of the Neustar registry by Godaddy. I imagine that they will soon begin offering promotion to the .us namespace. It only makes sense. 2. The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic which has painfully pointed out the amount of essential goods which are produced and imported from various countries worldwide. There is a surge in sentiments to "buy American" and "buy made in America". Having a .us web presence gives that appearance, whether actual or not.
Merely my opinions and perhaps some wishful thinking. I believe in .us domains and probably paint a rosey picture because of that. Decide for yourself. Time will tell.
