It should have a corporate financial theme, banking, financial technology...

logo : FinScend
subtext: Knowledge Matters

Concept: "Financially transcend" - going up...so logo should show elevation or lines go beyond the range of the logo

Color scheme with blue, open to ideas - anything from simple to 3d. no cheesy icons of dollars or charts!

I think the way you did it is right. Maybe color blue a bit lighter? like IBM Blue.
What about the edge of the side having a bevel to make it look multi-dimensional?

So far the work has been great. remember, we're looking for a financial look, with the parameters given above. the monogram style with and without bevel is heading in the right direction.
