a new era is classical bubble talk.. what about .xxx?
Important thing is not if it's a classical bubble talk or not. This is not the point. The point is: it's a new era or not? this is the point. but you can believe what you want. it's your problem...let's not waste our time talking about this... I do not want to tell you right now why you're here and what I think of you as domainer...O_o I have said in the past. I do not want to waste time today...

Fact is there are a lot of gullible people who are going to lose a lot of money on these new extensions. Running from one promotion to the next - from one new launch to another. I doubt that many are making any real money - just burning it - whilst the registries hold all the best domains and the best reported sales will belong to them. They'll announce a new sale, here and there, to keep speculators interested - but the speculators won't be making any money. Upcoming deletes are now up to 10.36% today - so looks like hardly anyone is actually renewing these new domains.

it is not true that all good domains are reserved by registars. FAKE NEWS. I personally have several great new gTLDs that I bought for $20(No in promotion) and I do not think that I'm the only one...

I wonder why "homes for sale" sold for more than "house for sale" After all you don't hear of many homes for sale. In fact, I have only heard of one, and that was a beach side home that was sold to the managing director of a large corporation. He bought everything, house, furniture pictures, the lot. He only used the property for one week in the year as well.

For now this month we had 2 sales that are close to $200,000 and it is very very difficult to have one sale of $200,000 for a .org or a .net.
Just like it is very very difficult to find gTLDs sold in that range by a domainer :)

Then domainers should be making 6-figure sales too... no ?

I sure must be missing something.

when you buy something you can sell it too... the world does not end after this purchase... Fake.News is another nice premium domain. It's true. The cost is $180.000 and maybe one day someone will buy this nice premium new gTLD. and after that purchase the world will not end and one day maybe he will sell it. Maybe he will sell it for $1 or maybe for a $1 million... who knows? the same with Video.Games...
i.news( super domain) sold for $35,000 and now i.news is for sale... Who knows for how much money? Who knows the future? Personally I'm sure about only one thing: I'm sure that the loser failing experienced domainers don't know the future and we have many of them on nGTLD discussions...

I'm interested in you because you have a brain as a child. and I wonder how old is this child? for sure you have more than 20 years I think... joined namepros in 2011 ...but it's strange... maybe you are the child of the original dordomai.. who knows... I don't know.

@rightside.co.
I actually inquired on this name last month. I'll tell you what I told the rep who responded...it's worth $500-$1000. This is a domain that isn't worth much down the road. It's based on 1 person's words that are already blowing over.

What is your website?
I told you. it's not a joke.
I do not want to talk here about my domains.
Why? namepros is full of genuine and less genuine domainers but I think the end users are not on namepros...just look the auctions here to understand... And I don't want to waste my time...

this is a fierce media battle between new and old conventional registrars who are still trying to protect the bubble created around meaningless 3,4,5.... letter/numbers domain names...

unfortunately we are proxies in this battle and each one is trying to protect his investment!!!

still a long way to go...

A grown-up guy is collecting Barbie dolls, spends hours on a forum talking about how great it is to collect Barbie dolls and is convinced he will make a lot of money with his hobby.
Another guy doesnt like Barbie dolls and doesnt see any value in them. He is more of a sports guy. He cant resist to respond on anything the collector says and spends hours on the same forum responding to the posts of the Barbie collector.

This is what the ongoing and recurring discussions here look like to me:hungover:
The question remains: which guy is most in need of professional help?:nurse:

Yes, they relentlessly emphasize that domain names don't matter that much and one Google employee indeed once hinted that the TLD is ignored.

Both is obviously not the case.

I was running a news aggregator on ecommerce.one for a while. Not a single line of unique content, since it was an aggregator only. It ranked on page one for the term "ecommerce one" (which would appear nowhere on the site, but was in the domain name only).

Some random examples:
https://www.google.com/#q=coffee+club
https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#q=immobilien+dresden (dresden real estate)
https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#q=fussball+news (soccer news)
https://www.google.com/#q=whisky+auction

Great post Vito,
Congrats to the buyer of video.games - looking forward to seeing this one being built out.

Exactly

I too have proved that a 1 page website with almost no content is fast loading and if you give a search engine almost no content - the search engine effectively has no content to rank and has to rank the website by its domain name

Although as long as homepage has the word of the gtld left of the dot mentioned on the page the search engine reads. Games as the word games and reads in this case the gtld video.games as
video games

The. Com or any other tld is surplus to requirements and not needed

Although I reckon it won't be long before an Internet giant makes the owner of video.games a substantial offer they would find difficult to turn down eg comfortable 7 figures

The reason I say this

Even fb have bought a new gtld in work.space etc

Video.games is just so perfect a domain and the world is game nuts

If the owner makes it the best games website in the world they will be falling over $xxm investment offers which will give the gaming site based on this the video.games domain an extremely valuable market value in the low $b's

No one can compete with someone who knows the gaming industry through and through and who also has the perfect domain for a games website

If the owner was to crowd fund investment for say 200k for 1% people would be queuing the world over to invest in the business and that would pay for the domain - quids in

The only thing stopping him from owning the best multi billion dollar gaming website in the world is being tempted to sell the domain name for $ Severn figures plus whiich would end the dream

Don't ever sell the name lol
