If does actually sell for 5mil then tell the world and ask xxxx for the name. Goodluck bro I am pulling for you!

I think social.com might just sell, probably not for $5m though.

In any case, think soci.al should be worth low $x,xxx at the very least.

Good Luck

I agree. Low $x,xxx is possible but the potential pool for buyers is smaller with hacks so you will have to be patient.

It'll go mid $xxx or better. The problem I have with hacks is consumer confusion. How do you tell someone your web address? Hacks are a drop in the bucket compared to real keyword domains!

actually I don't like and I don't believe so much in the potential of domain hacks ... I agree with Keith about consumer confusion ... and I think that the introduction of further extensions (scheduled for 2012) will even increase this mess, weighting on and depressing hacks (and low quality stuff) prices ...

so at the end it's not something I will put in my quality domain section ... IMHO .com, with the right keywords is still king (with very few exceptions), that's it:)
so I would say only low xxx$, maybe even less going ahead.
Regards.

I have already refused an offer of 5k$ and I don't regret it at all. Whatever happens to the social.com, the soci.al has quite a vaue for any social web network such as hootsuite, livingsocial, or even the big players like twitter, fb or even google.
I just need to find a way to push it up for attention.

Or maybe I will just develop some kind of hub for all the social networks of a person.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I think in the future you will regret not having accepted that offer (if it's true that you received it).
As far as I know, no main social network is currently using or planning to use a domain hack and if they don't have a .com they rush to get it ...
I don't see any real convenience for them using a domain whose name is "Soci" (a Romanian village) + the Albanian TLD ... the hack (fool) game simply doesn't work, cause the attention goes mainly to the "name", not to "name + TLD" ... and generates the mess I've already mentioned ...
:imho:The domain hack thing it's a pure illusion, fueled by some interested "pump-and-dump" domainers, it's a bubble and many will be disappointed/burned when there will be the necessary fly-to-quality (i.e. soon) ...

Thx Andy09.

I agree that the hack domains are worthless... unless you build something upon them. THe real value of a domain is shown after you create an identity on them. Other than that, they are just domains and all with potential. It is up to visionaries to create something good out of "just a potential".
I do not regret rejecting a 5K$ offer and I will expect other bids until July. Then I will develop something myself

Very pronounceable name. Definitely think in the XX,XXX if the .com sells that high.

Did you see the "if". He said the .com is listed for 5M. "if" it sells why wouldn't this be worth that high. It was spectulation. Even 2% of 5M is XXX,XXX. Not saying it would fetch that but if .net are worth at best 10% of the .com, in some cases, then why not XX,XXX potential.

It's only 4 letters

Should I be doing some research on this persons domain name somewhere for off site factors cause I don't. I am going on name and the way I see it here on first glance.

You got a 5k offer and rejected it????

If there was ever a time to sell that doamain for 5k now is the time with all the hype for social.com, you wont get that chance again IMO.

if you had used the site to host some sort of social network mashup and got interest on sites such as lifehacker etc you would raise the price significantly than just selling the domain on its own

I think it could have a lot of value if you develop it and try to sell, but to a reseller without development I don't see it being worth over high $xxx.

I would have got rid of it for $5k, but love that you have faith in receiving a much higher offer, so I wish you the best.

may have to hold for longer or develop if you are chasing more than 5k

......good luck

I think passing on the $5k offer is a risk that could pay off. It really just depends on how the landscape of the web changes and shifts going forward. If startups begin using hacks en masse, then you should be in awesome shape. With the flood of extensions which is about to arrive, that day may never come, but I would say that there are worse gambles out there, though.

If you have a vision of what it is worth, and you have enough money, so that you are not forced to change that vision in order to eat, I hope you will stick with your vision...

Good luck.

Domain hacks are as old as the WWW but they never quite picked up, for good reasons. IMO they are completely overrated by domainers and these names are not liquid.
I'm sure there are plenty of stronger domains hacks still available in the Albanian extension alone. Very few of the domain hacks in existence will ever sell.
Frankly I would take 5K and run, laughing all the way to the bank. Think of it, you could trade it for a LLL.com.

Also, people should stop making inappropriate comparisons.
Just because #######.com sells for big money does not mean the same domain in another extension, or the hack equivalent is even worth 1% of that price. Many sales are one of a kind.

You can't find .al hacks of this quality available to hand reg.

In regards to the rest of the posts..

It's a great domain and although I would have sold for $5000, I don't agree that you lost a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The introduction of all these new extensions that are coming out will make for interesting times for the hack market. I see it as increasing their value and attractiveness. There is only one Social, but there will be countless social.randomTLD

A lot of domainers hate hacks, and they obviously aren't for everybody, but I've found buyers for mine and turned a decent profit.

Yours is one that makes sense in hack form, some terms don't fit as well, but for a fun, 'cool' term like social a hack should be accepted quite easily.

You'll get high xxxx for your domain.

Thank you all guys for the posts! I really appreciate all your ideas, even if I feel I don't like to agree with some of them :)

Keep them coming :)

The domain was sold for 50K$.
The process was transferred through escrow.com, from HOST.AL to MarkMonitor for an anonymous buyer.

As you see, there is a lot of potential in the hack domains and in the .al zone which has only 4500domains so far.
