Maybe something like Mi.lk is worth some serious change, but, generally speaking, ccTLD domains are geo-restricted by the search engines.
But who knows how cc's will play out with all the new gTLDs rolling out?
It could be very disruptive to the industry and add value to even small country ccTLDs.

Interesting, so maybe, I should just wait
'Cause the reg. fee for a 2-Letter .lk is about $200.
mi.lk was available sometimes back, I just passed.
Which one is it?
.lk is for Sri Lanka.
I was eyeing on ta.lk and fo.lk, but did not register them due to high registration fees.
The people in charge of this ccTLD have very old fashioned methods. It's basically a government bureaucracy. You have to provide justification for registering names. Generic names are forbidden! You can only register names connected to your business i.e. trademarks or business name. The whole process is manually done so it's a) slow b) expensive c) if they don't like your reasons they will reject your application. See their domain policy:
http://nic.lk/index.php/domain-name-policy
The sad part is that Sri Lankans, generally, are very accepting of technology. But government departments will be government departments.
If only ALL governments treated their extensions the same way!
Same with all the new tlds coming down the pike.
