Quoting "[email protected]" <[email protected]>:

Hi,

I would like to know if you would have an interest in purchasing this
domain name (I found your contact information online and see that you
own xxx.us correct?).

xxxx.co can provide a SEO boost in this market, which includes leads
that pay for themselves saving you Adsense money (advertisers are
paying $0.xx per click). It is very simple to type in/remember; and
can help improve, secure, and protect your web branding identity.
There are also xx,xxx global searches via Google per month for
these exact keywords.

If you are not interested in acquiring this domain, I sincerely
apologize and thank you for your time. However, if you would like to
acquire it please let me know. I will be offering it to several
related sites/businesses in the next few days for just $450, and it
will go to the first company who replies.

Regards,
Sam

Domain is available to register.
  1. ALWAYS check the whois when you get an offer.
  2. Never buy anything sent from a domain less than 3 months regged (imho) unless it is clearly of more value than a crappy dropped name
  3. Choose a better thread TItle like "Buy the Unregistered Domain Scam"

I would try to find out who "Sam" is but I really can't be arsed wasting my time.

Reply back to him and tell him yes but you'd like to send him a money order and get his info. ;)

Reply that you would like to buy the name from him, after he has registered it you change your mind :)

LOL yeah i was thinking that too because they probably are not so legally savy to make you get into a binding agreement to buy the name for $ (there probably just winging it) Also there probably so poor they would have to have you prepay.

And they most likely saw your name on namepros and are reading this thread so the idea wont work now

Me also. Same email, same subject... but from a different domain. Annoying as hell.. I can't wait for the auction to happen.

I have locked this mentally for next time. This would have been a great idea....

After that I could have offered them the .US using the same template that Alex (mentioned above) used.

Yea I got four emails to buy the same worthless domain. Why does Alex want me to fill out a simple form when there's apparently an auction in a couple of days. How do I get rid of this guy when they are each sent from different domains?

Sincerely,Alexander

It happened to me as well. I own BangkokHotels.CO and he approached me to sell Bangkok-Hotels.CO. I replied saying that, if I had an interested in the domain, I'd simply handregister it and thanked him for the suggestion :)

He never replied back.

its @ssholes like this that make it that much harder for people to try to sell their domains to end users...

Just got 2 more from Alex. This makes 6 total for the same domain. The only good thing is that the domain is redemption so hopefully it won't last too much longer.

I now received a total of 10 emails (9 from Alex and 1 from Flex Media Domains) for the same domain. I have never responded to anyone of them.

As you both know - the original note sender now owns the domain which they were trying to sell me :)

I believe it was $22 purchase for a domain worth $0. I believe the domain has only value in one extension - .US and even then it is minimal.

I got about 10 in total but I think the auction must have happened because they stopped as suddenly as they started! I need to develop that name too ... too many things....

Got an email from him. It seems this guy is now spamming the entire planet, trying to scam people with domains he don't even owns.
Maybe he wants to destroy this industry?
Can we still sell our domains after this guy goes to the endusers and destroys our reputation?
He is not the only one doing this.
