Godaddy Scam? ICANN Scams/Phishing emails

The other night I went to renew a few domains at Godaddy went thought the multi-page process trying to sell me stuff and add stuff to my cart at each step(wondering why I still use Godaddy..) So I get to the end push pay and the next page is "your cart is empty" So I think WTF.. check my domains, still the same, No Renewal, check my email No Receipt. So I went though the multi page process Again.. paid, this time I get a online receipt for the renewal.

So I eat dinner then check my email and I have 2 receipts for 2 different purchases, both for 1-year renewal. So I think no big deal I will just cancel one. Call Godaddy sit on wait for 19min and the customer support tells me "No Refunds on domain time" I explained their software gave me no receipt or finish page at the end of the process and I made another purchase and I just want to reverse one of them, the person told me to basically I was out of luck and to go to hell, I asked to speak to a supervisor they told me the same thing.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/warnings-and-alerts/704141-godaddy-scam-icann-scams-phishing-emails.html

It is not so much the extra money it is the poor service I have used Godaddy for a lot of years and an extra charge gets made by mistake I call 15min latter and they just tell me I am screwed and were rude on top of it. Also I find this rule of no refund rather sketchy coming from people that try to add junk to your check out process every time something is purchased.

I wanted to post this to get some feed back I was thinking about doing a charge back on the payment but I am afraid they might just drop the domain names on me if it goes through. Do you guys think this would happen?

Also why no refund on time? Do they instantly buy the time from ICAN (even when it is not going to expire for months or years)? Or are they just holding onto profit?

Well I field a claim with the better Business Bureau and Godaddy refunded the money.
I got the impression that if I did a charge back which the bank would of happily done they would of just dropped my domains if they still had them.

This was a good wake up call.. On the importance of having reputable honest people take care of your domain names.

makes you wonder why they're number 1.

Also avoid namecheap as well. I have bee getting quite a bit of spam from a domain that is registered with them and they don't take any action when reported.

Please, do yourself a favor if looking for a cheap web host! AVOID GODADDY AT ALL COSTS!!!

We own several websites, over 700. In the past 2 years, Godaddy.com has lost over 20 of our domain names THROUGH NO FAULT OF OURS! THEY WILL TELL YOU THE BILLING DIDN'T GO THROUGH, NOT SEND WARNING EMAILS AND SELL ONLY YOUR MOST VALUABLE DOMAINS!

In our case, it was adulttoy.org and naughtylingerie.net, two of our most valuable domains, sold at a huge financial loss to us, while they profit!!! THIS IS WHILE OUR AUTOMATIC BILLING WAS FINE FOR SEVERAL OTHER DOMAINS!!! THIS COMPANY IS NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF LYING, SCAMMING, THIEVING CROOKS OUT TO STEAL YOUR DOMAINS (IF YOU HOLD SEVERAL) AND SELL THEM WITHOUT WARNING!!! WE IMPLORE YOU TO USE ANY OTHER REGISTER OR HOST BUT GODADDY!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=704141

Godaddy has done this to us 4 times now!!! We were duped into staying with them as they supposedly gave us better customer service reps each time who assured us that it 'would never happen again'. The first time, they sold 4 lesser value domains on us in 2005. Then in 2006, they did it again, with 2 lesser value domains.

They did it again in 2007, losing 14 of our domains, (all were on AUTOMATIC residual billing on the same credit card THAT HAD THOUSANDS IN THE ACCOUNT AND WAS ONLY USED FOR GODADDY!!!) This time, they sold the best domain at a profit, adulttoy.org and gave us the other lesser valued domains back, as if they did us a favor. Mind, we contacted our GoDaddy 'Executive Support' (some lying mope named Dean)representative several times with these emails saying our domains were expiring, first, Dean told us no domains were expiring, after they were lost, he told his supervisors this never happened.
A when we find a comparable name, they then tell us it needs to be from the expired auctions, which are all garbage domains. This supervisor, a real winner named Rod Browning, told us to go back to the original rep that lost our domains to begin with. UNREAL DISGUSTING IDIOTS! At this time, we find out they did it to us again, losing 4 domains, including naughtylingerie.net, which was sold without ANY PRIOR WARNING OR EMAIL!!!

Then, this sap of a rep tells us to pay Godaddy.com a redemption fee to get the other domains back, but the best one was already sold, 3 DAYS AFTER WE RECEIVED THE ONLY EMAIL SAYING THESE DOMAINS WERE IN JEOPARDY! This idiotic customer service rep that works in Bob Parsons office (Godaddy president), his name is John Godbehere, it is a very unique name, there are a few listings for him in Scotsdale, Arizona and we suggest you track him down if you are having problems with Godaddy. No doubt he is at one of these addresses or numbers and would be incredibly easy to find.

First of all if you had 700 domains at Godaddy you would have an dedicated account executive to manage your account. Not only will you receive the automated renewal emails Godaddy sends to you about 5 times before a domain has expired and will be deleted, your account rep will send you several emails. If you do not have an account exec, contact Godaddy and request one. This will not only get you someone who handles your account directly, but you do not have to wait hours on the phone only to talk to someone who has no clue what they are doing. You get to speak to someone who has a clue.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=704141

The problem is not Godaddy. It is people not selecting to renew their names automatically using Godaddy's system or manually themselves. If my names are that valuable, I will ensure that I manually renew them instead of relying on some system to renew my domains for me.

You have to realize out of the handful of people that like to complain about Godaddy did this, Godaddy did that, the majority of the time it is user error in not renewing their domain. Several months later they realize their domain is "missing" when it really expired because they never renewed it. They call and claim they renewed it multiple times and it must not have gone through.

One big problem with godaddy and renewals I have noticed is if you have ever had an old email in their system or tried to update an email many times your notices will still go to the old address. I have up dated emails all over their confusing system and even called and asked "now this time will it update it email in ALL of your system??" and still the notifications would go to an old address.

So if you need to change an address with godaddy and you relay on notifications like many people you might be better off just changing DN registers.

I have had this happen also.. But I renew my stuff early then check on it days latter. Coincidence? idono but Godaddy seems to have a lot of coincidences that can be costly to the customers but profitable to Godaddy and inside sellers.

Over 700 names, then you can get service. If your email addresses are up to date, you will get notifications. I have a hard time following the rant.
Get an executive acct rep. I have never had anything like that happen, and I have been with them many many years.

Another "GoDaddy" phishing email

Got another fake ICANN update email this morning, supposedly from GoDaddy. The link is actually to godvdaddy [dot-com]. If you get that email, do not click on the link!

I don't even do the ICANN confirmation at all anymore, even if I think the email is legit.
