The Government of Montenegro recognized the potential worldwide appeal that .ME could have and decided it should be operated as a generic name space to gain the maximum benefit for Montenegro. The Government issued a public RFP in November 2007. The goal of the RFP was to find a Registration Agent that could operate an international registry, provide world class backend registry services, and provide the marketing and promotional muscle needed to make .ME a worldwide success. Ultimately, we believe they made an excellent choice!

The contract was awarded to doMEn, d.o.o., a Montenegro based joint venture (doing business as .ME Registry) whose partners are Afilias Limited, GoDaddy.com, Inc., and ME-net d.o.o.

Landrush will start June 6 till June 26, domain names with more than 2 applications will go into Auction.

Go Live on July 17.

I was using name.com, but now that they stopped free private whois, I'm transfering all my domains (.COM and .ME) to Godaddy. Godaddy don't have the best regular transfer/renewal prices, but they definitely are the ones who offer the best, and most frequent, coupons.

I hate their interface full of ads, but in the end they are the cheapest.

I agree but the problem is that the registries have full liberty to take trademarked names (in the name of premium names) to their scheduled auctions and rip the newbie domainers off. The very structure of WIPO is flawed!!!

Last night, I ran accross so many quality, unregistered .ME's that it was ridiculous.

I developed a short list of names that I might register...

cant blame registrar's for just everything, they have it mentioned in their terms of service and that's most of all I think they can do.. just as you or I were running a business, I dont think we'd want to post something like this on the main page of our business site and confer losses due to the note there.

yes I personally think they should take responsibility but they've opened a business and are not in market for social cause, or are they?

So cant go on complaining about it when us, ourselves should know what is wrong and what is not being a mature adult, professional domainer (as he claimed to have about 250 domains).

I think a small child can also tell today that Facebook is a trademark of Facebook Inc and shouldnt play be playing with the term in anyway or invest any money in it.. this guy losing facebook.me which he bought for around $6k is all his fault and he cant put blame on registrar or anybody else for that matter. what was he thinking anyways while acquiring it in the first place? he deserved it IMO
