.EU SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED (UPDATE 18:39 CET)

Brussels, Belgium – 7 December 2005.

Today at 11:00, EURid opened its systems to receive applications for .eu domain names. Some 800 Registrars in 25 countries are still sending in the applications they received from numerous candidate domain name holders all across the EU.

TOTALS

At 11:15:00, we had received 40.503 applications (> 40/second with peaks of >60/second).
At 12:00:00, we counted more than 80.000 applications (>23/second).
At 13:55:00, we counted 95.370 applications.
At 16:13:00, we counted 98.718 applications.
At 17:12:00, we counted 99.928 applications.
At 18:45:00, we counted 100.000 applications.

Total applications 99.928
Unique applications (only 1 application for the domain name) 78.565
Corresponding to
• geographical indications or denominations of origin 645
• public bodies 7.728
• national trade marks 70.090

haha... Although Im surprised that Porn wasn't higher up the list. Also, I'm slightly surprised that 'Golf' is in the mix at all!

I'm surprised Porn is'nt higher aswell, there's some serious money in Golf, big bucks.

damn. a swede seems to be first in que for Travel.eu, Poker.eu and Sex.eu.
And the funny shit is that he got trademark for ALL of them.. in the category for some kind of meat. funny. but he is a serious professional also..

I am sure it all completely genuine and eurid will confirm that :td: Why should they be any smarter than the other cctld monitors. :(

There was a succesfull .in trademark reg for SMS.in , to the best on my knowledge the guy got the trademark because his supermarket initials were SSM - not even in the right order :'(
