Google just flushed many keyword domains down the toilett. At least here in Germany its a disaster, From those websites who really lost a lot of positions or simply vanished, were nearly all keyword domains. Nearly no brands were punished.

Consequence: prices for keyword domain names will go down and domainers will have a hard time. Google is simply giving up his bonus for keyword domains.

Google already indirectly warned us last year,

I don't know how old you are, but if you're over 30 and were a reasonably early adopter of the internet, you too remember search before G came along.
It sucked.
It fucking, fucking, fucking sucked.
"reasonably early adopter of the internet"? Back then, i was searching the internet by sending FTP commands to an FTP server via email. Then the server replies to me via email with the directory list. I had to send another email again just to issue a "chdir" command. And that was on Simtel.

How old am i? Back then i had to use uudecode to view my porn.. which was a nude pic of Phoebe Cates from Blue Lagoon.

Damn it! i was scammed that early?

One thing is certain, evenif you are putting honest-to-goodness content on your websites, gaming the system will always cross your mind. Evenif you rank on top, you would have wanted to remain on top. And keep the competition at bay.

Yes, in 2008 Adobe gave Goog and Yahoo the flash search SDK, or swf2html code. So Goog 'can' do it but they rarely did it 'on the fly'. Then the 'real time' web algo hit, in response to Twitter, and on-the-fly swf-2-html search results died in the womb.

Its sometimes done on cache pages for popular sites. Also, its only for "swf" flash files. FLV output took over flash software a couple years ago.

Goog cannot read FLV, or flash video, and video will be 90% of web traffic by 2014 (Source: Cisco)... so we're back at search sucks for 90% of web content.

Bottom line, text based search engines are blind bots in a visual world. Making text targeted algo changes is like re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic AFTER it hit the iceberg.

Penguin is especially bad because video channels are often mini-sites... where 'the page' is inside the player/screen; social networking buttons, email, comments, mouse-over to read description, etc..

When everything is in the player, and the player is an embed / widget, "the page" itself is redundant. To penalize this efficiency for being a 'mini-site' is like not sending call traffic to cell phones because they are 'mini-phones'.

This whole notion that mini-sites have no content, and offer no real user value, is so last century. The size of the interface does not determine the value of the interaction.

I have dozens of TV channel sites where the average stream is 3 hours long, the average time onsite is 15 minutes, and the average month serves a million viewers minutes.

That may have been true 5 years or so ago but no longer. Adobe and Google have worked together to help make content within flash documents available. Although not perfect it is indeed possible. Again Google have blogged about this in the past. The same goes for javascript.

The database comment is irrelevant. Users dont interact directly with a DB either Google acces sit the same as users do.

Good article about this update from folks who have and track a LOT of data:

There’s still a lot of speculation, but likely culprits include:

Aggressive exact-match anchor text
Overuse of exact-match domains
Low-quality article marketing & blog spam
Keyword stuffing in internal/outbound links

Some good resources cited in the article too.

It seems 1990's is gonna repeat itself. FTC is about to get in to Google's Biznass. Same stuff that the FTC did in 1990's to Microsoft that give birth to Google and others, is happening.

This is the way to lose an empire. You get a lot of people and the you change the rules. Then people will leave ... to another thing.
Unless there are not other things!

A few years ago, my partner and I were just slapping together mini-sites and ranking with just a few back links, but because the domains were in the same niche, we were just swapping out the keywords. Needless to say, these all tanked with panda. Nothing fast and easy works any more. You can't make a generalization about domains, everything has to do with what you do with them.

Really a sad thing to hear for the keyword domainers. One of my friend's account also got flushed. Perhaps you are right that they are facing a hard time.

Is emd with minisite still can rank well?

Yes it can. I just within the last week, went thru 9 of my sites. Most built with Wordpress, others with something else

This is a copy and paste from my spreadsheet:

Google Yahoo
1 1
1 1
none 1
19 1
15 1
1 1
1 1
1 1
none 5

That is what page my sites are ranking for in regards to the keyword(s), exact match in the domain.

As you can see, Yahoo loves them to death. 8/9 sites are ranking on page 1 Yahoo for the keyword I'm targetting, the keyword in my domain. The other one on page 5.

So does Google. Mostly. The ones where it's none or page 19 and 15 are more thin, more products I got from a feed. The other stuff is content I put up myself. None of this article nonsense you see all over forums, none of this buying 100's, 1000's of links, directory stuff etc. That's the kind of thing that can actually hurt you, throw up all kinds of red flags to Google.

So you can rank just fine with exact match keywords in your domain. Just make a quality site, cut the nonsense out. Put some effort into your sites, don't be lazy.

is it high quality site just depend on quality of content? How with quantity?

I think mainly quality. One of those sites is just 7 pages, only 3 quality content, the others site map, contact us page, privacy policy page, resources page. It's a niche site, so it's easier to rank but it's been page 1 both Yahoo/Bing and Google for over 3 years, in spot 1 or 2. With that one, I actually went to the library, got a few books, and old schooled it. Like doing a report for school. The content on the internet has been scraped and spinned to death. I put in 1 solid day of work and that was it. Since it was a niche site, there wasn't much to it. For me, when making sites, I have this in my head. Can I make this site or page a top 10 page on the internet in terms of quality and I'm honest with myself about it. If I can, then I go for it. Quality lasts, people still line up to see the Mona Lisa. That's an extreme example, but you get what I mean. Other sites I have are bigger because there is more to them but same concept. Make good quality pages. It's competitive out there, only so much room on page 1.

Ha, ha. I remember the 5.25 inch REALLY floppy disks.

During spring cleaning (the-quarter-century-getting-rid-of-the-hoard version) I ran across a box of 5.25 disks, filled with files I'll never be able to access.

I had a smart meter website placing on page 1 search for alot of keywords/phrases that was mainly rss feed & after 8 months with traffiic quadrupling goog said 1 post out of 2500 violated copyright issue & killed the site even after i stated it would not happen again

goog supplied the rss news feed & shutdown the site because they also supplied the offending post!

most likely penguin designated it a scrapper site. it would have been an awesome site a few yrs ago prior to the panda penguin onslaught of today!

new age of the web is here & will get alot worse folks! crap sites without a high % of original content are r being subjected to the nsa / goog bots.

however thats also dependent on what TYPE of content too. suppression of speech in a big way is upon us all!

PS: note how goog calls there deadly algorithm as cute animals? they r twisted!
:kickass:
