Domain Scam Alert

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
I just got scammed by someone who offered $1500 for 8 of my 4 letter dotcoms, and now i lost 8 domains & no money at all

he made the payment of $1500 to my paypal account, when i first checked it, it seemed perfectly fine, so i pushed the 8 domains to him. An hour later, when i checked my paypal account again, the money was gone as it has been chargeback by paypal claiming that the payment was not authorized.

the scammer uses 2 email addresses:

[email protected]
[email protected]

after some research, someone has found out his real identity being:

Dorobantu Marian
[email protected]
bd tomis nr 68
Constanta, 8700
Romania
40+721328329

the 8 4-letter domains I lost are:

HUUQ.COM
KYYR.COM
QUUH.COM
LJCJ.COM
VUEQ.COM
VZFC.COM
WUUQ.COM
UUBD.COM

other people have been scammed by the same scammer
so Domainers be aware...

how is it possible that this guy pulls the SAME trick again and again...

i have to give him some credit for sucessfully scamming myself and others and PAYPAL....

I hope what i'm goin throu right now will teach us all a lesson:

only deal with people either you know or with good itrading record on forums. THe best way to avoid scams like this is to use escrow service.

it's worth it to go the the extra mile for a safe and secure transaction...for both the buyer and seller

What a complete Jag!
OK,
You can file a dispute with PayPal,
and they can re-coup the funds from this Jerkoff!
I hope you have e-mails saved on the payment details!
Send PayPal, every bit of info...
I had to do that many times (from my E-bay sales) with people who
have claimed to not have received merchandise.
They will take care of you, just don't give up!
Good Luck, and I'm terribly sorry to hear that!
Red Rock!

OK,
I just went to PayPal's charge back info,
and I see a potential problem...
They state how you will be covered as long as...
you ship tangible goods.
So, I think this may not be covered under PayPal's seller protection.
So, I am not sure about seller protection for domain names.
This is a HUGE issue, since I wanted to start selling some of my domains on E-bay also!
I am giving you the link on chargebacks..

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/FinancialInstrument/popup/ChargebacksFAQ

I really hope this is addressed, and you win!
And this Jag gets executed...or something similar!
Good Luck,
Red Rock!

thanks for the info Red Rock, paypal has stated that i'm not eligable for the seller protection.

so i don't think i will get the money

Thanks :( :( :( :(

Also, It was paypal fraud unit that placed my $ on hold. They're indicating "Potential Fraud"

it's worth a try. send your customer number along with the domain name to:

[email protected]

they might give it back to you, give them your reasons and what happened.

maybe npers should stick together and sign a petition asking godaddy to give it back should it refuse to

go through the course system would be too expensive, so our best bet is with wipo...

let's keep this thread alive, even if we don't get our domains back, we need to make some noise and alert as many decent folks as possible

Just posting the stolen names here (and other places) is a good idea.

Last year, a guy scammed me out of an LLL.net, and I posted threads about it here and at DNF. Eventually, someone (who claimed he had bought the domain from the scammer) emailed me to ask if I could take down all those threads about the stolen domain, because they were making it hard for him to sell it! So I told him the story and ended up buying the domain back from him cheap (he said he had paid the same cheap price for it).

Google can be your friend! :)

anybody has experience how to get back stolen domain at godaddy?
i get response below:
Hello,

Thank you for your email. It appears that you have a 3rd party agreement between yourself and the buyer. We are not able to become involved in this dispute.

Any further disputes over the ownership or wording of the domain name will need to be sent either to the registrant, through an arbitration forum such as World Intellectual Property Organization (http://www.wipo.int), or the court system. Please be assured that if we receive notice of a pending legal dispute we will lock the name so that it cannot be transferred or otherwise modified. Likewise when we receive a Decision we will update the name accordingly.

Thank you.
