I decided to try out NameSystem.com, so I ordered a .com transfer through their website.

I got an email confirmation saying they charged my card, then no further communication at all. They never emailed the whois contact for confirmation of the transfer, and there's no info in their control panel. Looked at the statement and my card was indeed charged. I called and left a message and they never responded. Their support email bounces. It's been over a week now.

Anybody know what the deal is with these guys?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I have logged into my account, and the transfer is listed as "waiting for customer response".

I never got any email to respond to, and I run my own mailserver, so I was able to check the raw logs. They never hit the email address in question, so there's no possibility it got lost in the spam folder or anything like that. There is no information on how to re-send the transfer email or cancel and request a refund. And it seems impossible to contact them.

What's more, I used the "forgot password" facility and they sent the password I signed up with in an email. Apparently they store passwords in plain text. Horrible security red flag, I definitely won't be using them.

That blew it!
I thought if you could get into your account, it would be waiting for you.

And I would not do business with a company (or individual) that can not do simple emails.
Or answer tickets.

Good luck.

Agreed. Now I just have to decide if it's worth the effort to try and get the money back.

Finally heard from them after trying emailing them again. Apparently they had some issue with their email system (they claimed my messages ended up in their spam folder, but in fact they returned with a mail delivery error... strange). Maybe that has something to do with why I never got the transfer confirmation email. However, I got the order confirmation email just fine. It also doesn't explain why nobody returned my call for a week when I left a message.

To their credit, they asked to continue with the transfer, but offered a refund as well. I would have given them a second shot, but after the plaintext passwords revelation, there's no way.

Replied with an email to them explaining my position and asking for a refund, 4 days ago. Still haven't heard back.

Still no response after multiple emails. I even offered to have them give me credit for another .com transfer instead of a refund, and no reply. Seems like these guys are going to keep my money. Bad business.

Over a month and a half, and they still have my money. They don't respond to emails.

any update on this, OP? They still offering $6.99 .com/.net/.org for any number of years and with free privacy, which would be a pretty good deal if it worked!

Tried to renew a domain today, their cc process kept saying, "Incorrect address, try again." ( It WAS the correct address ) . It never deposited funds into my account, and I see I now have 3 charges against my credit card for the same amount.

Domain is still expired, they have 3x the money, my account balance there says ZERO.

Not happy.

Still trying to get a response. My domain is now expired, it better not freaking drop before they answer me.

NameSystem.com

NameSystem provides the kind of service that leaves competitors smiling and leaves clients fuming. Biggest mistake was to have trusted these clowns with our precious assets - live and learn.

Takes days to respond to emails, no phone support, ever.
“...press 1 or 2 to leave a message we’re never here or too busy to speak to you.” It's a backroom operation. I don’t think anyone is actually there - they guys probably work at a pizzeria

The payment system and website is buggy, new names not registered properly, expired names left in limbo, transferring to another registrar has been a nightmare.

NameSystem is ICANN registered - REALLY?
Their service model is joke; stay away!
