Special GoDaddy store credit

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
If you are a GoDaddy customer and was affected the other day from the GoDaddy "crisis" you should have a special store credit of like $10 bucks. So make sure you check. It should be under the account tab and should say, "redeem your store credit."

I did receive $6.99 credit, presumably for a month of hosting to compensate me for site downtime. Well worth checking. Thanks for posting. Repped :tu:

Edit: I just phoned them about an unrelated issue and during the call was told that the credit must be used within 7 days or it will expire. The rep was able to apply the credit towards a purchase.

Did either of you ask for some form of compensation, or was it automatically there in your account?

I believe it doesn't expire in 7 days but rather you have to claim it in 7 days. I didn't ask for any form of compensation but rather was emailed to claim the credit.

9/12/2012 Special Credit, Exp 9/12/2014 - COMPISC $9.99

Not sure how to go about using it or what it can/can't be used for but it's nice to see that godaddy does at least recognize the customers.

So far, nothing for me, although my sites were also down. While I don't have Godaddy hosting, all my custom sites and redirects were down as well.

I may send an email to my rep.

I think some form of goodwill credit should extend beyond webhosting customers. For example if you used their dns for anything, even forwarding, you would have been affected.

Well to clear things up I'm not a web hosting customer of godaddy ....So I'm not exactly sure why I got the credit and others didn't as of yet.

It was automatically in my account although GD didn't notify me. I wouldn't have known unless I'd seen the post by the OP.

According to my support rep, it can be used against any purchase.

Copy of what I received today...

"We owe you a big apology for the intermittent service outages we experienced on September 10
that may have impacted your website, your email and other Go Daddy services.

We let you down and we know it. We take our responsibilities — and the trust you place in
us — very seriously. I cannot express how sorry I am to those of you who were inconvenienced.

The service outage was due to a series of internal network events that corrupted router
data tables. Once the issues were identified, we took corrective actions to restore services for our
customers and GoDaddy.com. We have implemented a series of immediate measures to fix the problem.

At no time was any sensitive customer information, including credit card data, passwords or names and addresses, compromised.

Throughout our history, we have provided 99.999% uptime in our DNS infrastructure. This is the level
of performance we expect from ourselves. Monday, we fell short of these expectations. We have learned
from this event and will use it to drive improvement in our services."

As a result of this disruption, your account will be credited for the value of 1-month of service for each of your active/published sites.*
This credit will be available to you for the next 7 days. Please click the button below to redeem your credit.

*You must click to redeem your credit by Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at midnight (Pacific Time). Your in-store credit will expire 2 years after redemption and cannot be refunded for cash. Credits are subject to the terms and conditions in Go Daddy's Universal Terms of Service.

Got mine $47.81

GoDaddy puzzles me...
... YES - i got my 'Credit'... $8.99

... but NO - i never was notified about it, which means that if i didn't claim it within my seven days, i would have never received it.

If you're going to try and make good - then MAKE GOOD - don't pull this shady tactic hoping most of us don't claim our credit and then say it's OUR FAULT if we don't within your 'secret window' without notification.

Weak!!

Thanks to the OP for making mention of this otherwise i would have never known... Rep Added!
:)
