Free Nigerian Domain Names - First 50,000

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
It seems like the Nigerian domain name registry is having a promotion to celebrate Nigeria's 50th year anniversary.

Upperlink - Dead

Try this one: http://www.web4africa.com.ng/

No credit card required. The official ccTLD for Nigeria is .ng.

In order to populate the .NG Registry with Active domains, the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) is giving out 50,000 domains free

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Note that it's not 2nd level so pretty useless :p

True, can be useful for SEO purposes though ;) . Also, no limit on how much one can register.

These guys have it too..

Code:
http://www.web4africa.com.ng/
# Free .com.ng, .org.ng domain names. Promo code: NG@50

If for whatever reason you decide to renew, it seems cheaper a bit.

I cannot log in, I am told my password is invalid so I really do not think much of this at all...

~~

Sorted out the password issues (for some reason when you copy paste from email it adds 2 spaces at the end) but now it will not allow me to complete any Registrant contact informaion to complete the buy...anyone got past this part?

Finally got through it, snagged radios.org.ng (Nigeria is big on radios) and Phones.org.ng (a phone is a serious status symbol)

Waste of time. Even if you could find Nigerian end users (nobody here will), you've still got to deal with the currency exchange rate. The time is better spent searching under your couch cushions for money.

Who is this registry run by?
Is it safe giving out our personal information to that registry?

I never liked anything coming out of Nigeria anyways. Lots of investment scams and good con artists from years past but not sure if this is one of them.

Don't underestimate Nigeria... It is a huge country with a pretty rapidly developing economy and English as an official language.

While these free domains are indeed .com.ng, all .ng names are premium and cost thousands of dollars to register. So .com.ng is still quite good for now.

I can recommend using www.netorbmedia.com. They have great customer service!

With Adsense, or did you park it elsewhere?

Parked.com isn't taking .com.ng yet...

Can anyone recommend a parking company that does them, I have a few nice .com.ng that I want to earn from including cats and dogs :)

Free domains are only good IMO if the renewal would be free as well. There was a point when .info and .be were free for a few weeks too, a lot of registrations occured within the .be field but the number of those domains that expired after a year rather than renewed was also quite high.

Also, the opening post is wrong: the Nigerian current registry may be 5 years old, not Nigeria itself ;) It indeed has a relatively good economy, but the stability of its government makes it questionable how many of those investors will leave in the near future. For sure not a stable country so caution is needed.
