Register your .cn for 0.99 cents at Name.com

You can register .cn for 0.99 cents at Name.com .
Only applicable for ASCII registrations, not IDN.

If you do register a couple of .cn's for 0.99 cents, then please post which ones in this thread.

Let's see how many new .cn's everybody will register here on Namepros.

I'm thinking at least 100... (modestly speaking)

Not a bad deal but considering the fact that its less than 50 cent form some chinese registers it might be a bit too expensive at $1

True, but Name.com is a reliable and stable registrar, ICANN accredited, ... Why risk some dodgy far away registrar to save half a dollar?

I guess though that the 1 USD is just the first year. How much does the .cn cost to renew it afterwards?

I am not really a fan of .cn usually, unless there is some name I would like to own for pursonal purposes or so but which is taken in other TLDs. 1 USD is no money really (heck, a veggie hotdog near my local mall costs more than that) but I guess renewals will make it less appealing to take the offer?

From my understanding, .CN domains can be regged for low as 10 cents each by some Chinese registrars in some instances.

For 100 domains, the price difference, say at 50 cents each, is likely not be worth the hassles, worries, etc - probably best to stick with Name.com, etc.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/541655-register-your-cn-0-99-cents.html

However, if you're thinking of regging thousands, then definitely shop around for a better price.

On a related topic, registering a bunch of ascii .CN domains at any price may be a total waste of money...

What does one do with such domains? ... and how is IDN implemented in .CN? -is the Chinese ccTLD IDN aliased to .CN or totally separate? ... I don't know, but questions worth researching further.

Already good money being paid for idn.cn ( http://www.namepros.com/idn-discussi...ent-sales.html - have not added recent sales as there is a lack of interest on this forum ) and you get idn.cn / idn.中国 .

If you cannot get premium + ascii.cn then don't bother. You may be lucky to get a fair idn.cn but unlikely.

Is this one of those Name.com offers that expires after 1 day, or is this promotion more long term? What is the renewal price after the first year?

Yeah, I would like to know that as well. It would be awesome to have an annual price of 0,49 dollar, but I assume this is just a candy to attract domainers while not clearly listing the renewal prices to be paid the next years to come (should one want to hold on to the domain longer than the initial year). I cannot see any regular renewal prices at name.com

And no, no local presence needed. Only Hong Kong and Macau domains require local presence as far as I am aware (although I have seen .com.hk domains regged by foreigners) - "one country, two systems" In a way it surprises me that for extentions such as .cn, .in or .ru there is no local presence needed, because these countries have enough internet users to sell many domains without catering any foreign users.

Most registrar offer USD1 for .cn registration. It is because of CNNIC promotion. They wanted to have more .cn then .de to become the number ccTLDs in 2008, inline with China hosting the olympic.

Renewal would be back to normal rate... Webnic.cc offer offer new reg at USD1, renewal I think is about USD14 if not mistaken. need to check.
