Move over Hollywood, life is more dramatic than anything your scriptwriters can come up with.

Just when we thought the 'good guys' within RF won and an 'evil' CEO was defeated, here comes the next installment in the RF saga (quoting from registerflies.com - the best gripe site on the subject, without any way of independently verifying this info on my part):

Site Hacked and Data Corrupted

Attention everyone. I just received confirmation that the Registerfly site has currently been hacked into and taken over by Kevin Medina in the Florida office. I was asked to put this up here due to the amount of customers that are sending money. At this moment, they are trying to get police in Florida to arrest Kevin immediately.

I'm relaying a message that they have asked me to put up on here. They have lost control of even the site and are locked out of the system. The data has been corrupted but they do have a back up and are scrambling to get this situation resolved.

Your support forms on this site will be held right now and forwarded when we know the proper management team has control of the data.

This is only what I've been told and this is currently the only medium of communication that the current management of Registerfly has. More updates soon.

"I see on your main site that you say that we don’t have any access to help customers. That isn’t entirely true. We do have access but it is very limited. We just don’t have any access to make updates to the website over the weekend. I feel we will have full access back on Monday and I found out something that will most certainly have kevin arrested and put in prison for a very long time."

...it's a temper tantrum involving two adults with other peoples money. I imagine it won't belong for this actually makes TV press considering how in depth this is turning out to be.

yep, and movie rights are probably available on the cheap given that the most likely future book writers are clearly very busy now...

I can't even log into my account :( And I had 6-8 domains there to remove from redemption period.

RF should consider another business tactic--charging people $ to transfer out a domain. Raise your hands if you'd pay $ to get your domain out of RF ASAP?

Adopted by show of hands!

So much money, so little to do with it...

But seriously, what would you recommend doing in these circumstances?

Would you login and try to get your EPP codes, knowing that the SSL has expired and (even more seriously) the site is allegedly hacked?

Would that not inform the alleged hacker about which among a million or so domains are more likely to be worth stealing? If yes, is the potential gain worth the risk do you think?

It looks like at least some of them will have plenty of time soon enough. PLENTY of time.

After a year of dithering and saying it was not their responsibility, ICANN gave Regfly 15 (business) days to pull itself together. So, perhaps the cavalry is coming. It doesn't look like anything will happen, good or bad, for a few days - apparently the site data has been messed up, there is a backup, but sorting it all will take time.

If you still have some time on your domains the best thing to do may be to sit tight. If they are about to expire or have expired I have not found any good advice for you, except to follow the drama on registerflies.com.

ICANN is facing a major PR debacle if a significant number of people lose their domains/websites. Picture the Time magazine cover story: Ma and Pa built this website business from scratch in 4 years of hard work to where they were netting $$,$$$ per month only to have their renewal payment stolen, the name sold on Snapnames and the site now filled with porn.

ICANN is in deeeeeeeeep doodoo.
Wonder if they have noticed yet?

I'm having the same problem. :( I've been trying to login, but it says that my user account doesn't exist. I try to retrieve my account information via the domain and the username, but still no luck.

My information for this domain is on the WHOIS. Anyone know how I could maybe get control of it so I can transfer it out?

Thanks.

You can be sure that the above statement is a fake, but since any holders of regfly names are currently in the equivalent position of being locked into the top end of a big dipper then it might as well be true. Good luck with transferring names out to bargaindomains-r-us mark 2 (otherwise known as 1+1) :tri:

I think I've lost my domains. They went into redemption period around the 14th or so. I went to take them out but ha, the site's messed up. I tried putting them into eNom via a migration link they emaled me but eNom doesn't recognize my customer number. I emailed eNom about it and they requsted that I send them a copy of my ID and a billion other things.

I just logged in and changed nameservers for one of my .INFO domains. I verified the change using betterwhois.com.

Has anyone been able to find an EPP code for any .us domain at RF?

criminals

I have reported the ICANN and registerfly.com as a criminal minded organization at www.ic3.gov

ICANN received big money from registerfly.com mobster and it is about time to investigate why ICANN has not stopped the still ongoing fraud and thievery at their website.

registerfly is still in business ... and the FBI should instantly stop it.

I tried to register about 5 .infos there about a month ago, but the order form wouldn't submit, I'm sure glad now.

I hope that everyone is able to get their domains back safely, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Uh... ICANN is already looking into it. Why do you think this thread was started?

no, not for .us nor .biz
I thought it had to do because I bought the names and they were regged through Enom (before rf became accredited).

I emailed for the EPP codes with no reply of course...

All of my .us domains at RF say they are registered with Tucows. I'm guessing that RF somehow has a reseller account for .us domains with Tucows. I'm not sure if it would do me any good contacting Tucows for the EPP codes.

Anyone have a picture of Mr. Medina pre and post lipo?

He probably paid for lobotomy, too.
