I want your opinions, what TLD will have the best 2007? Place your votes now. Dont forget to add some supporting facts if you can. I suspect this thread may create somne debate which I love! My vote is kind of a funny one... You guys may want to shoot me.

My Vote for best TLD of 2007 is.......... Drum roll please......

.Net -What the hell? You say... IMO it has the best oppertunity this coming year. What a dumba$$ you say? I know I know .net is the dirty dog of TLDs right. Well i suspect that will change in 2007. First off, the general public as a whole primarily uses .Com and .Net and sometimes .Org, I dont know anyone outside of domainers that know of any other extensions. Second, there will be some stunning parking developments this year. First off Richard Rosenblatt is about to revolutionize monetization of Keyword Domians. he started iMall and sold it for $565 million, then he was hired to turn Myspace from an in debt venture, into a $560 million sale, all within 18 months. His next venture is the one us domainers care about. He read the article "masters of their domian" in business 2.0 and spawned his latest IDEA! He spoke to a bunch of domainers that own 300,000 thousand domains that make 20 million with just 4 employees. As a result, his new plans are to start buying KEYWORD GENERIC NAMES by the MILLIONS, then add his own "myspace" template to each domain- He is creating his own parking/aggregator company that uses web 2.0 technology to create a template that instantly creates a Myspace -like website that features user generated content such as profiles, blogs, and other community driven features. For example, I have Barbecuerecipes.org - high overture but hard to monetize and generate traffic, but the keywords have high overture score, with a myspace type site that would allow people to create a profile, showcase their best recipes, and post their pics of their food. With an instant site like that I could easily monetize even .org. It would get a higher and higher PR from all the user content. Imagine 1 million mini myspaces, you could make billions. His company "Demand" plans to go public late in 2007 with a 2 billion IPO... Rosenblatts company has made several significant purchases in recent history - So far he has taken over both ENOM and Bulk Register, making Demand the second largest registrar behind Godaddy. It allows him to amass Domains by the MILLIONS at lord knows what prices. If you ask me the only TLD's mass consumers will accept are .Com and .Net, of those two I think there is alot more potential with keyword .net domains. I have registered several amazingly high overture score .nets in the last few days... If all holds true, by next year there should be some amazing monetiztion solutions available that could make Keyword .Nets very profitable!

.mobi

.mobi has had some great sales in it's first year. It wins, no contest.

.mobi all the way. IMHO when it all unfolds, dot com will be just about worthless compared to it within the next 5 years.

Interesting, audacious comment...dot com is here to stay, it has a mindshare that equates it with the very commercial nature of the net.

I see a lot of potential for growth in LLL/LLLL .com in the next year, .in LLL&generics and also I see .info one-word generics (e.g. food.info, etc.) maturing over the next year.

It depends if you are talking about the domaining industry or end-users. I'd say .mobi probably shows the most promise for end users. I believe .mobi and .us will be the most profitable for domainers.

What does it mean?

.sc is the extension for Seychelles Islands. It is most commonly used for Source (e.g. Whois.sc), South Carolina, Southern California, or other niches.

.info and .in for me

I drove into Atlanta on the weekend and counted half a dozen billboards advertising the .info extension.

Plus neither extension is properly covered by dropcatchers yet which means plenty of opportunities for picking up bargains and good ROI.

.cn

safe over at domainstate just pointed to this article

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/2008/2...tent_757845.htm

The Beijing Olympics are going with .CN instead of .com as their official address

.CN will be plastered on everything , in the news papers, on the web , on th etelevision everything .

I suspect everyone that understands this will be speculating heavy in .cn in 2007 ..

.cn registrations could surpass .de (the leading ccTLD) because of this one worldwide event

.mobi will be the big flop for 2007

By then everyone will understand .mobi will not be default on mobile devices and speculators will have realized that outside of the domain community no else has ever heard of .mobi or ever will...and when they try and explain .mobi to anyone the other person will say "did you say moby ? "

.asia

You guys are forgetting what is creeping around the corner.

.mobi will be forgotten next year (just as .eu was forgotten).

It will be .asia - as all of you .mobi fiends will jump on this new wagon.

Everyone is searching for the next big thing. Its already happened.

I will be re-investing in .com

com is cing... I mean King.

I think .cc domains are about to make a move.

It won't happen this year, but domains will become extinct as we know them. How come no one is talking about that?

.mobi is overrated. In the not too distant future, everyone will be able to access all websites on their mobile devices.

I would say .asia and .mobi.

I fear that, too.

Something much simpler, faster, more intuitive may be on the way.

I wish I knew what it could be, today.

But anyway I'd bet on .MOBI, there are too many power players there, at an extremely fast pace, much more than in any other other extension.

I believe ccTLD's will experience excellent growth in 2007.

And I think .US and .IN are country codes to keep an eye on, in the next 12-24 months.
