Hey All!

By now we've all heard of ChatRoulette and the phenomenon it has become. We've also heard about CamRoulette, the guy who reg'd it first and then sold it, only for it to be flipped for $150,000.

Fusible recently did a post about copycat names and divulged a few of their recent "...Roulette.com" regs. I was just wondering if any of you guys had reg'd any yourselves?

Jim.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I guess the question is, is there value to these names beyond he obvious squat value?

Like, if there was no chatroulette.com would your names be worth registering? Or if there were a wipo case filed against your name, would you spend the thousands of dollars involved with defending it?

I have regged these "roulette" domains:

eChatRoulette.com
ChatRoulette3d.com
eCamRoulette.com
CmRoulette.com (typo)

They are all getting Views/clicks, with eChatRoulette.com getting the most views at present....

I have not. Too much porn associated with this term, and one has to decide where and how one wants to make money.

I have decided that if I supported the porn industry in any intentional way, then I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror and like what I see.

I would rather stand on a street corner and beg.

Some YouTube.com copycats took a mainstream concept and moved it into the adult niche, so I thought why not take the "roulette" theme and go mainstream? On that basis, I reg'd these domains:

AdvertisingRoulette.com
AudioRoulette.com
BibleRoulette.com
ComedyRoulette.com
ComicRoulette.com
DictionaryRoulette.com
DiscountRoulette.com
DomainNameRoulette.com
GeoRoulette.com
GpsRoulette.com
HoroscopeRoulette.com
JewelryRoulette.com
JokeRoulette.com
JokerRoulette.com
LawyerRoulette.com
LoanRoulette.com
MediaRoulette.com
NameRoulette.com
RealtyRoulette.com
RiddleRoulette.com
SearchEngineRoulette.com
SoftwareRoulette.com
TriviaRoulette.com
WeatherRoulette.com
WebmasterRoulette.com

I believe the potential exists to develop many of these into informative, inspirational and/or entertaining sites.

Adding advanced search/filtering capability to a domain like NameRoulette.com (i.e., boxes to select, "baby names", "domain names", "nick names", etc. could create even more targeted, relevant results.

Just my $.02...

You make a good point, WordWalker, and I hope you can bring the word back into the mainstream. You have some good keywords attached to roulette.

I'm afraid, though, the big resale money will be in the adult industry as was shown with the sale of camroulette.

I would bet that there will be other applications than the adult industry. The "roulette" mechanism, the fast paced rotation of random images/feeds/people is different and feels more "open" for lack of a better word.

There should be some great casual gaming applications, games that could be played 1-on-1 or in a group...

I think the roulette phenom will prompt some interesting thinking.

We'll see!

I think the typos will be worth the most.

Nah . . i'm not jumping on the bandwagon even with that awesome sale. You will usually have very few winners here and a lot of names that get registered after won't be worth that much down the road.
