NamePros grows day after day..... but it seems usage doesnt change much. What can we as users do to help NP grow and how can we make NP more attractive to new users?

I propose some of the follow ideas:

1) Incentives for inviting new users
2) Fast user approval
3) I think we should hold more contests and auctions - If some of the industry members here versus consumers were to donate items to NP for distribution in various promotions then we would possibly attract more users.

We have competition such as DNF and DomainState but it is obvious NP is better designed and a nice community. The thing is others have grown use to DomainState and DNF so they do not see the fruit in which NP offers.

I take the military approach on this (how could I not).

Don't lure them in with sugar or a piece of bread. Solid members will come and contribute without any enticement. The weak that fall away are the ones that come for the freebies and such.

I think #1 and #2 are already used here.

1) There is a referral reward of 50 NP$ per new member.
2) We've had to institute a more stringent manual approval process in order to prevent as much as possible duplicate signups as well as the return of previously banned members.
3) Agreed. We used to have auctions every other week without fail, but have since slacked off. We'll work on it - promise!

I have to agree, people who come for freebies eventually seem to leave or have an aditude just to gain np$ :(

Yeah you got a point there Melinda, once you get into the whole feeling of helping out or even asking questions you just want to keep coming back and back just like me. :)

But doesn't the military hand out ROTC and National Guard scholarships and whatnot, thus enticing countless young men and women who wouldn't even consider signing up otherwise? True, a large portion leave the service after getting what they came for (an education), but enough stay around for the long term. Without these enticements, you'll probably have to draft people more often.

Just a friend yanking your chain, acts. :)

No problem Apollo. You know what I am talking about. Those that join just for the bennies and those who join because of Pride, Spirit, Dedication, and Duty. Very broad generalization here which doesn't apply in every case but for the most part it doesn't take long to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
