This thread is a central location to report domain name sales of any dollar amount.

As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller.

Good luck with your sales!

Please use the Like and Thank links on a post to indicate that you like it or are thankful for it being shared.

Do not post only, "great sale" or similar as this doesn't contribute to the thread. (Don't reply for the sole purpose of complimenting.)
  • Tip: Use the Like/Thanks feature instead.

Questions are allowed, but do not post commentary. If you want to discuss or comment on a sale in this thread, quote it and then post it in the following thread instead:

Can't say I don't have a decent amount of sales, but I'm not getting the big ones I want!

You put your finger on a central issue, Gene. Offers often come from people who seem, prima facie, to be individuals but who could very well represent major corporate entities.

I received an offer in November of US$1350 for a domain targeted to the biotech venture capital sector. I wanted US$15K for it (allowing for a 10% commission) and counter-offered. The negotiation proceeded quickly and culminated with a phone call from the buyer offering US$7000.

I took this offer but naturally wondered whether I could have ramped to nine or 10 - impossible to know. The sale was private so I could immediately reduce the price to 13,500 without losing. However, in the event I was happy with US$7000 to help fill all those Christmas stockings I would be shopping for.

But, bottom line - how can you assess the buyer's budget. To me it's an art based partly on the emails received and the buyer's tone on the phone and partly just gut instinct. I'm sure professionals would do infinitely better on such negotiations but forum's like these can help a lot.

The problem is that what can and often does happen is that the potential buyer is faking the aura of being someone unable to afford a high dollar name. It's not that easy to tell how deep someone's pockets are, especially if they email you from a gmail account simply asking if a name is for sale, how much, and have their name at the end. I personally don't do that and who knows, I may get overpriced responses in return, but if that's the case, then so be it...they can wait for a huge company pretending to be a nobody who will get it for less. Likewise, while I might quote people differently depending on what kind of bidding and interest is happening at the moment, I'm not worried about whether I could have gotten more or not...if I ask for what I want (based on what I think the name is worth) and it sells for that or little less, then I could care less if the buyer would have paid more.

Just sold Dallas365.com for $200 US. This was a nice way to start the new year as it is my largest sale yet. Hopefully it is just one of many for the new year!
