The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
My tax and other financial domains have taken quite a hit lately. Yahoo must be rating them down for some reason. Not sure why that is or what contributes to it.

Donny, do you know whether Yahoo/Ask are re-evaluating anything or why there's a sudden drop of value?

Donny,

My answer time for trouble tickets is allways 2-3 days... now whe are 5 days with the one that i have opened...

Please review that, im have never x hours responses as you have told.

Another question that i have asked without responses... the account managers in Parked are available to help us optimizing our parked pages?

Thanks.

German2006 - When you evaluate each account manager, the numbers do vary, it also depends on the time of the week. Some account managers, do work 24 hours a day including weekends and some do not. All account managers are available to help with optimizing domains, but you will need to work with your account manager on that. Just remember they are only as good as the domains.

IntelBank - I have not heard of any recent changes in Yahoo.

I tried Parked and NameDrive for two months and I like NameDrive much better.
I couldnt get 1-click lander for most of my domains, and I made more with NameDrive.
I love NameDrive landers and the Sell/Contact option.
How to get a 1 click lander?

Something weird happened last night and I want to know what I should do.

One of my domains at Parked received two visitors and 44 clicks!!! Obviously, this is way out of the norm. I just put a ticket in with my rep to see what's going on.

Wait a minute... I just checked again and its at 66 clicks now!! WTF!!! I think someone is trying to sabatoge my account! Has this ever happened to anyone else?

5 minutes later... now 67 clicks.

Glad I jumped on parked thread and caught up.

My estimates past couple days were cut in half the following day. Dying see where they end up as final numbers from yesterday. Brought over some bridal names, bride sites and got some nice clicks and high ctr. I customized them and insert key words.

I own a bundle of casino names and I am curious how everyone is doing with parked. I own some .com, .cn names, .tv and mobi names. So far they haven't worked out for me and for some odd reason I can't save a gaming image under a macau gaming name that keeps changing back to a porn name. I don't get that one.

Encouraging to read about our reps helping us monetize things. I got my reps number just recently and owe him a call. Will ask if he can help me monetize a few names.

Concluding on a few factors and Domaining in general. 1. If I own 200 names at parked, 10 percent of hard work, changes and steady views and clicks is what I want and need in the short term. That's 20 sites doing well each day. I don't think that's a high number and its realistic. I been working away and taking baby steps in things. Dying get up to 10 to 20 dollar mark a day by january. I think it can occur just more tweaking and changing things. I begun the 20 names I am after and trying find that nice click over a dollar. Haven't found it yet. Get 20 names that are solid and try hard on the next round of names and so on. 2. I am slowly getting out of my porn names and dumping them but keeping a basket of them. I have a name that always does 5 to 10 views a day and that's a .tv name. But my click rate is very low. Trying decide weather I should it here or try parking panel on a few porn names. Not sure yet. 3. Ups and downs, would love to think my time and effort is finally kicking inn at parked and slowly making progress on parking names. I love stats and numbers and see the powers of Domaining. I am always checking my stats on my parked account and its addicting. Dying get out of the kiddy pool and get a basket of names doing 20 to 50 dollars a day. 4. I own a lot of future names and areas in mobi, .tv and betting on the future. Concluding next year I am going downsize my portfolio and dump some names and buy a solid .com name with history and type in traffic. Going keep some of my .cn names, all my mobi names, most of .tv and ones I feel that are promising for the next 5 years.

Surly leaned a lot the past few months, seeing some views in my account and seeing the powers of people getting to my site, clicking on my site and a 24 hour marketing machine 7 days a week.

Thanks parked for making me realize what my passions are and interests. Hope in 2008 I can having my 2 minute fame and say I did this, I did that, and a new name pros member joins parked and gets me and how I started. I think we have all done dumb names, chasing things, over paying for names and etc. I know I have. 2008 is the year I hope I will be profitable, get a nice .com name for under 5000 bucks and have one name that's getting views and clicks. Grow and keep learning and buying a second .com name. My .tv mobi names plays and .cn names are for the 3 to 5 year horizon.

Thanks everyone for writting up good things and thoughts. Enjoy very much the parked thread and loyal people here. Thanks donny for always being on here and helping everyone out with your 10 job descriptions.

Have a enjoyable holiday everyone and be safe.

Cheers,

J

Hmm. That's very odd. At least you put a ticket inn and by being upfront on this and honest you should be safe I would think.

I have always wondered this and glad it hasn't happened to me. Been couple times I fell this but talking 10 clicks and under.

For instance, my bride names I brought over and I think they generated most of my revenue today. The company I came from is after content, video and very low ctr with them. I am experiementing with basic parking pages on a few .tv names. I was worried when I saw a ctr of 165 percent and 3 clicks on one name. But I looked at my stats on that it and it looked lagent. Maybe I will do the same as trouble ticket. I can't afford to be banned on something that's outside of my control

Donny can you talk specifics on this. When your a domainer, we can't contol click fraud or things like this. 68 clicks. What happens to us? I surly hope if its not honest clicking or views you just don't pay us?? That is my number 1 risk before I came into this business with a few thousand bucks. Being a domainer you can't control factors and we carry huge risks like this.

Its good you brought it up to there attention and wow 68 clicks. Very odd. Nice job if its honest clicks in parked views and they payout.

Keep us posted.

Yep. Yahoo paid Parked, so they paid me. I guess sometimes they don't. If I were you, I'd drop a note to my account manager - always helps to be proactive in these situations.

At least I'm not the only one this happened to. I opened a help ticket with my account manager Baron Desmond right when I discovered it. I'll wait and see what he has to say about it.

I too opened a ticket....

Last night my revenue jumped very late and it's sky rocketing today...already at just over 3x daily average - hmmm?

EDIT: Although my revenue/traffic increases are over a spread of about 10 names - not just one.

I just finished reading all 76 pages of this thread to get myself "up to speed".

My questions relate to customized content, SEO, Yahoo, and Google. Any help on these matters would be very much appreciated.

1. Does Google penalize the ranking of parked.com pages?

2. If so, can one still increase ranking in their index via page customization?

3. Is there an optimum DNS method for SEO (I-frames, DNS, redirects, a record, etc.)

4. Would it be better to focus on placement in Yahoo's index?

5. Is there a prefered method to get pages included in Yahoo's index?
Thank you very much. :)

Google doesn't penalize the ranking of a parked page - I have some parked urls ranking as high as #2 in Google. But they're not going to give them any breaks, either. Customization can help, if it's done wisely, just like with any regular developed site (i.e. don't keyword-stuff, and don't scrape content that's already been duplicated on a thousand other sites)

Think of it in terms of percentages. If the overwhelming percentage of your page (whether it's parked or developed) is devoted to ads, navigation, or duplicate content, you're not going to do well in the organics for any search engine. If you can tip the percentage for *something* unique in your favor, you have a fighting chance.

I haven't spent a lot of time on getting Yahoo search results, so someone else maybe can answer those questions.

Thanks Netmeg. I read somewhere a few pages back about parked dns being penalized on Google. Can you give me any suggestions on this one: gomerpyle.tv.

(If references to parked domains are not permitted, I will edit this post.)

With reference to your Gomer Pyle domain, it looks like Google just hasn't picked up the page title yet - once it does, you could well see better placement. Also, I'd maybe edit the ad categories to make sure you don't have anything in there that isn't relevant to classic television shows or Gomer Pyle or whatever it is you're going for. Oh - and you don't want to repeat the same string in the meta description tag that you have in the title, so take out the duplicate mention of ultimate resource - just have it say "Get Gomer Pyle DVDs, show history, television listings, and much more!"

I am new to Parked and have a couple of queries:

1. How much time does it take for the stats to get updated for American traffic?

2. Is chinese traffic accepted?

Please help me.

I noticed one of my domains listed in google with a random subdomain.

www.cwuyelzx.orqm.com

Anyone know why this happens?

My portfolio shows 60% of my traffic over the past 5 days from China.

Chinese traffic is allowed, I don't know of any traffic that is not allowed.

gwkg- I am assuming that's because that was created a long time ago.

Estimates are normally updated every 15 minutes for all traffic worldwide. Finalized stats are updated everyday for the previous day usually by 2pm PST.

I have never heard of our DNS being penalized by Google or anybody. That wouldn't really make sense, because Parked.com uses the parked nameservers as well.

Some people may have noticed that they had a large number of clicks show up in their account yesterday. It seems we had a new spider that came in and hit a bunch of domains. I doubt Yahoo will pay for the traffic.
