You can counterfeit or even buy domains with fraud, and ICANN can be shutdown, but Namecoin and .bit domains cannot and it is very hard to buy .bit domains fraudulently if careful. Also you control and own the domain unlike ICANN having centralized control, also not requiring information about the owner of the domain. (Government cannot take your .bit domain as it is data, beating censorship globally)

Yes I understand that, it's custom nameservers, but the problem is that 99.9% of users can't access your website. It can be useful to some specific end-users but I don't think there is enough of them to make $

ISP's and dns providers need to update their infrastructure (to include the protocol) to include .bit unless it comes down to fixed competition in the domain market(s)

Regardless these are worth and have value due to value gained also not needing military protection or being in the stock market(s)

Also, instead of systems that are centralized like the (USA) white house hacker attacks that you use username and password with a possible 2-Factor Authentication, .bit domains use ECDSA public and private keys for storage that remain the owners unless other actions have been taken by the owner unlike attacks that can be made on regulated TLD's or ccTLD's (ICANN etc)
