Hello from Tennessee, land of Jack Daniels. I am very new in domaining industry. I have a lot of SEO experience (successful), some CPA / affiliate marketing experience (not so successful so far) and beer-drinking-while-I-am-working-from-home experience (very successful).

I have a few questions about domaining and also want to share my experience so far. Therefore please check my thread, this is gonna be one helluva ride!!!

Welcome to namepros. Being into SEO I would suggest you look for names in web marketing, take your time and make a list, then see which names similar to these have sold from dnsaleprice, namebio etc, search google to get an idea of those who might be interested then trim your list accordingly.
Thats one way to ease yourself into the game. Use what you already know . Meanwhile make sure you read through the threads as much as possible and ask questions when you need more details or just more light shed on an issue. See you around.

I think that's great advice @bytedo.

First off let me welcome you to the forum @rteodor
What do you say? Is there any better and more accurate tool/service than estibot?

My next question is - where I can find good literature/blogs/ vid tutorials in order to learn more about domaining?

Also, I registered with SEDO and Flippa. I listed all of my domains so far there on both websites, here they are:

followstorm.com
callsingle.info
callsingle.com
DancingNewYork.com
callsingle.org
checkpattern.com
LoanHoustonTexas.com
vegascasinodeal.com
callsingle.net
4CylinderEngine.com
trojanworms.com
freenewsreport.com
SchoolOpening.com

My few (stupid and noob) questions are:

- Should I list my domains on other websites? BrandBucket, DomainMarket, Domaining..? What about selling it on Ebay?
- How to improve chances on SEDO and Flippa? How to apply some sales points, some content/text?
- What particularly to pay attention when digging through bunch of domains on estibot? Is it appraised value, number of searches, average cpc...?
- I have more questions but being a new here, I will first go through forum topics, because I am sure I will find a lot of answers :)

Thanks in advance for answers on my questions, my fellow warriors. :)

Okay...maybe time for you to get active and start a few threads

I will, but how can I know how much domains are worth? :) As I said, I used estibot for it and put my price for 30-50% lower than estibot appraised value. Any tips on how to sell them faster? :) Should i go for buy now, or make offer, or auction?

You should appraise yourself. Trust yourself more than paid or free appraisal services. I am good at website appraisals after 10+ years experience. Domains are still more difficult for me to appraise.

10% of estibot value.
10% is the most frequent ratio I have seen at flippa. You can easily verify this in any domain marketplace if the end price is public. Check some ended auction prices then visit estibot. It's very simple. When you are selling you can use these 2 tools to get an idea:
research.domaintools.com/buy/sales-history/
dnsaleprice.com

It's difficult to sell a domain fast unless it's a premium domain or website. Premium ones are less than 1% of the total. I think most premium domains and websites are priced at $1k-$50k. Price is the most obvious indicator to know if something is premium or not. The best method I have found in my first 7-8 years in this business is not to buy or search any domain or website which are priced at $1 - $250. Like any business, this is a simple numbers game. The hard part is to find your own optimum price range that you will use when you are selling and buying. You can send me a PM when you want a website and don't know its value. I can give you an idea about its value. Because I like Jack Daniels :)

.Welcome to Namepros!

Honestly, I would think that your successful SEO experience would make it rather easy for you to judge if a domain is good by simply asking yourself if it looks like the type of domain that one of your clients would build a website on to use for their business.

Wow, what a responding and active community here! I am amazed! With you guys helping me and answering my questions, all I need is persistence and a little bit of luck. I am sure about first thing, and for second...let's hope :)

Anyway, thank you all for responding. I actually tried to test my poor copywriting skills with topic name and realized that my topic here has a lot of views and responds compared to other "introduce yourself" topics . So "check this out" still working. I'm glad . Will probably try that on domains as well.

So, my first question for this post is actually based on that. Do you take into consideration copywriting when selling domains? In other words, do you just throw metrics and screenshots in description, or use some subconscious and not-so-subconscious messages like a mini sales letter but not that obvious, more like a subtle sales letter? Do you use emotional triggers when creating sales copy for domain? Does it work?

Ok, that is more than a one question, but you got the point. :)

About SEO...yes actually I was thinking about prospecting the potential buyers/clients for geotargeted domains. For example I have Loan Houston Texas. I was thinking about creating simple website, maybe even one page only, as a landing page or to gain more trust, to create 5 pages, about us, contact us, home page, services, blog (for example), throw in some blog posts there (I can find them and rewrite them manually) . That could be done with clean WP theme.
Then I could prospect for websites for agencies who are providing loan for Houston area but they are ranking on 2nd and 3rd page. What I would do then...I would create a sales letter with pointing benefits of having exact match domain and offer them to either buy a domain or rent a domain with 301 redirect. Third option would be to include their website link with strong call to action to click on their website, in a form of pop up after 5 seconds when visitor comes to loanhoustontexas.com

What do you think about that?

Also, thank you for your responds here, to all of you, especially thanks for great tips so far.

@bytedo thanks for your advice. Very much common sense but great advice. You see, I miss that "little" obvious things. I don't know do you guys have same or similar saying, but where I came from (Europe, moved to America 4 yrs ago) we say "he doesn't see a wood from tree". Pretty much self explaining, right? :) I really really appreciate your advice. Same goes for advice from @korganian

@briguy I'm starting to read both links you provided here as soon as I finish this post, I promise.

@poweredbyme thanks. will use advantage of your invitation to PM you . Now, I don't want to use it right now, wnat first to read as much as I can then ask you for a few pro tips...and Jack Daniels is waiting, you are guys more than welcome to contact me when you are somewhere around JD distillery :)

Oh, and one more question- should I calculate price of beer into domain name price? I mean, if price of gas is deductible on tax for some jobs, why I wouldn't calculate price of all beers that I drank while searching for domains?

Drinking beer while searching for domains makes you choose bad ones or mediocre ones. Drink after you make a sale:xf.wink:
By the way welcome to NP

It depends on the amount of beer you drink and the volume of your business.
If your beer cost / your total cost = negligible (say, less than 1%) then you can't take your beer cost into account.
But if you drink beers at a restaurant, you can deduct it from your income/corporate tax as one of the costs of one of your daily business meetings.

So what about creating websites with geo targeted keywords, exact match domains and selling it? Are you guys doing it or just (re)selling domains and already established websites?

Need to search more for good domains websites,. auctions etc.

Actually, let me ask you..I suppose that your main income is selling brand new domains. Approximately, how many domains that you won or auction are selling, comparing to the brand new which you get through registers like NameCheap, etc?

Usually I buy websites. Although I sold domains in the past I don't think I am a domainer. That's why I am relatively new in this forum to learn more about domaining especially domain parking as I am completely new to parking. I am interested to give a try to have a few domains with some traffic. Because for websites CPC rates are constantly going down and people click less on ads or use ad blockers. Someone may be good at driving more organic traffic to websites but monetizing is difficult.

Thanks. So what to use in order to appraise value of domains that I find, instead of estibot?

Is it possible to find good (not $xxxx great but $200-$700 good) domains just through digging registers and registering new domains? Honestly, I dont have a lot of money right now to buy tns of $100+ domains in bids just for reselling
Look for LLLL.com and LLLLL.com whenever they are dropped, and use godaddy coupons for 99 cents reg. All the best :)
