Hey,

I just created a new community on orkut which can be used for domain/website promotion. Anyone can join the community and good thing is that we can use large public profile database of orkut for promoting our domains and websites.

To view the 'Promote Domains and Websites' community page, visit:
http://www.orkut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=52002890

Are you joining??

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So I guess this is another MySpace clone?
I joined up to give it a go, always have lots of sites to promote.

it's orkut from google, it has huge membership than myspace but they still need to join your group to notice your marketing campaign, also depends on the group.

How useful is the traffic from Orkut? I've always found that social networking websites (even specially setup groups) traffic converts poorly.

it's more like a community like a forum, the more targeted the niche are the more you get responses to and a possible sale.

SocialDomaining

Hello Ankaksh,
it is great that you share your initiative to give domainers a broader presentation in the public. I thought first that you can link from there to NamePros (with referrer links).
Unfortunatly, there is a clause in the orkut TOS:

QUOTE:
Account Behavior
Accounts should not be used for commercial purposes unless separately agreed to by contract with Google. orkut.com is for personal use only.
ENDQUOTE:

that could harm you and other NamePro members, even lead to a closing of ones valuable Google account.

Therefore I recommend in a seperate thread ( http://www.namepros.com/marketing-techniques/470259-socialdomaining.html ) to use AboutUs.org/SocialDomaining.

As an active member there, I know from my IRC talks with the Staff, that you are even encouraged to commercial activities, as long you stay to the core values of that community (Realnames, OpenBusiness, Community collaboration, decent behaviour .. )

I wonder if they are serious about the non-commercial, MySpace has the same thing in the TOS and there are thousands of commercial profiles on there, I have a few myself.

better stay away from it, if they say so, btw our myspace here in the Philippines shows up a spanish language not english.

Thank you netzilla,
made a social bookmark to give you more exposure.
You find our DiigoGroup via http://google.com/search?q=SocialDomaining.

Thank you weblord,
could you please give a link. Possibly I bookmarked the same target, you are referring to, in my response to netzilla.
