idn.tv speculation

I am a big believer of IDN .TV names, and managed to sell a few adult names in Japanese market. IDNs will be the big deal in upcoming years IMO.

If you look at .tv on google trends english is the #8 language.
Not a perfect stat but shows it has international appeal.

IDN.tv was just something I did to "occupy" myself for a little bit... but am actually very happy with the keywords I own in IDN.tv.

I wouldn't go IDN.tv crazy though.

I own less than 30 prime japanese keywords in IDN .tv - all words that work with .tv of course. As others have advised, I would take a little taste relative to your overall portfolio only if you find anything of value.

I've actually received several offers on my .tv domains and accepted a few.

Thanks for the encouraging responses. I was asking because I have riskily invested in 2 generic IDN.tv domains in simplified Chinese and was second-guessing my decision.

Rhys, would you mind disclosing ballpark figures for a few of your IDN .tv sales?

accepted 2 low four figure offers and rejected several 3 figure offers

I have a dozen of prime chinese idn dot tv names, including Sports ,TV and Casino ,TV.

Nope, many NPers collect Chinese IDN .TV names, but they prefer not to disclose them.

How will the Great Firewall of China affect traffic to these chinese IDN's ?

If you only have a idn domain without contents, usually you will not affect by China's firewall restriction. Once your site is built up, you will need to apply a license from Chinese government, or your site will easily be blocked by its firewall, such as Youtube.

Yes, mostly. A small aomount of people download a software to use proxy server, then they can bypass the firewall restriction.

I figured that He gets a lot of TV time anyway, so it was somewhat natural.

Appx 45 domains covering 97% of the world population

I also hold a few idns .TVs

Education in Russian
Auctions in Chinese
Seoul in Chinese

I quite like idn.tv although as you can see i am not overly invested in them at this point.

Have a few Japanese IDN.tv that I regged a few years ago.

Also, last week, I registered Arab.tv ( عرب.tv ) in Arabic, which I think fits the extension nicely.
