Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Someone at Sedo should improve their shill bid detection. It’s getting very lame:

http://www.sedo.com/auction/auction...stId=22648067&tracked=&partnerid=&language=us
http://www.sedo.com/auction/auction...stId=22648067&tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

I sent them an email about 3-4 weeks ago with a list of phishing names and a few with obvious shill bids including the 2 above. Most of them are owned by the same 2 or 3 people and registered within the last month or two.

I was subsequently advised that it would be referred to their compliance team, that has either not happened or the names have been approved by the team which I find hard to believe as every one of them is still on Sedo many as "featured domains" which makes no sense as they would have to be vetted by Sedo staff.

Here is just one of those little gems:

si̇de.com 13,000,000 USD :gn:

407 results on Google

Has anyone else found changes to the Custom View display in Sedo making it very hard to use? Suddenly this view, and only this view, is so wide I cannot get the domains and the data for them on the screen at the same time. Looks like someone changed the CSS there.

I tried to submit a question via the Support link at Sedo but no matter what my question was rejected.

Yes, I have the same problem. It seems they have had some kind of server error since at least Friday.

I also have problems downloading a document they have uploaded to my Transfer Centre.

It doesn't bother me that it's on the featured domains as those are the ones that folks pay to have rotated on the home page (as opposed to the "TOP" domains that Sedo used to have). However, anything over $10K needs to be approved by Sedo. So someone at sedo said, "hey, that domain si̇de.com 13,000,000 is probably worth $13MM"!?!?!?!?!?!

It's strange moves like that that hurt Sedo's credibility at times in my opinion. Especially so when you can buy a two letter .com for like $150K. Makes no sense at all.

Hi Wot,

The best way to inform us if you find any issues within the site or marketplace is to contact us through the support center. We'd be happy to check into it.

As for domains in the Featured Domains section; these are domains that customers have paid to promote on the homepage through our Featured Listing service.

And yes, we do read the thread. :)

Thanks!

Hi,

I think you need to get on the ball. These scam names and shill bids have been reported numerous times and I have been advised,as I said earlier, that it had been referred to your compliance team some weeks ago and nothing has been done so I assume that Sedo considers the garbage and shill bidding is acceptable?-hard to believe!

And I would be very surprised to hear you say that the phishing names currently on your "featured" had all been paid for. 20 or more, nearly all by the same people!

You could simply check? Go to your featured names, look at those that are IDN, these are mostly the ones in question. The shill bids, you have seen a few here already on this thread.

For more info just read my blog in my signature.

Seriously,you think this is acceptable?

You could of course also refer your support centre and the compliance team to this thread and my blog.

Hi yes here is another new small issue in the Custom View:

If you go to change the price of a Buy-It-Now domain, you get this message:

This option cannot be edited as the domain is not listed for sale. To list the domain for sale please update the "For Sale" option within the Sales Setting View.

But it is already for sale, but the message is worrying so you go to Sales View to check, and find you can edit it there.

Another thing I noticed is that when GoDaddy shows a Sedo listed MLS domain, it appears as a buy-it-now price in an auction, which is misleading because there is no auction.

Also it seems MLS still covers only some domain extensions - will they all become eligible?

I can't add my domains to SedoMLS at GoDaddy at all...

I get the message "You have requested to promote domains through SedoMLS which are registered at: GoDaddy. Your registrar is not yet supporting SedoMLS".

Hi Sedo

Thanks for listening. Here is a suggestion for improvement: please review the categories available for listing domains - they do not seem very up to date. I don't know if people really do use them in searching, but I often find new domains don't have a sensible category available.

Examples:

What category should I list a social media domain in?

What category should I list NFC- related domains in, other than the very broad "mobile computing"?

Maybe other NP members would like to suggest some new categories here.

Hey sedo...

On page 3 of your 2011 annual domain market study you list the top ten sellers and list the rest of the extensions with the term "other".

I know that it is in your database and not difficult at all to come up with, so could you break down the "other" 13% of the extensions that did not make the top ten?

Or is it your policy to keep that data under wraps for one reason or another? Some people wouldn't mind a thorough break down to review what sold and what didn't...

Thanx

Maybe they don't want investors in exotic extensions to jump through the window

...awww,if they haven't jumped outta the basement window for the last ten years or so, I guess that they could take the news, good or bad.

Anyway at least seeing the extension in print would be enough for us. Kinda feel like the red-headed stepchild with sedo as they seem to have a tendency toward complacency when it comes to their job...

Check domains in that auction ;)
Who is owner and who own that company ?
And then look at registration dates of domains in that auction.

Sedo - please finally CLEAN your database, now you are misleading GoDaddy customers!

Well, a deal with GoDaddy to sell sedo-listed domains first sound good....

But. Today GoDaddy backorder catched a domain for me. I listed it through GoDaddy premium listing and at is now supposed to be available through GoDaddy 1st page for instant purchase. No relations with Sedo so far...

But, when I checked the search at GoDaddy, to my surprise, I found that my new domain is "Available through GoDaddy auctions" instead, as it is was also listed at SEDO by previous owner who let it drop. Sedo.com domainsearch offers me the same my domain for "Buy Now" with a premium price set by previous owner. Sedo had 30 days of this domain redemption period and 5 days of pendingdelete to make an easy finding that this domain should no more be listed for sale! But this never happened.

So: SEDO made a mistake by sending to GoDaddy their whole "buy now" database, which is known to be outdated. Exactly the same story when we try to park new domains with Sedo and have to wait for the ownership verification due to internal system conflict. OK, while this may be acceptable for parking - SIMILAR CONFLICTS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN WITH SALES THROUGH SUCH A POWERFUL CHANNEL AS GODADDY

And, GoDaddy made a huge mistake by accepting this SEDO outdated not verified forsale database for advertising "forsale in their auctions".

Well, AFAIK Sedo has separate verifications for domains using SEDO MLS instant transfer protocol supported by limited number of registrars. Isn't it obvious that only these domains should have been sent to GoDaddy for distribution, or do I miss something?
