Anyone else registering 3D domains?

It seems that 3D is going to be the the next must have technology, according to the big brands, they are all launching 3D TVs.

I attempted to find good 3D names but the best domains are already taken, I think in 5 years time or even less, those generic 3D domains will be worth a lot. :imho:

Anyone else registering 3d domains? Do you think they have a future?

And Domainica will help you all with this point, but if i sold every name i have listed for a measly hundred dollars each, you can't tell me this wasn't a profitable venture.. even if they had to sell for $50 each - it would still be good money... not the guy above with his 3d ARSENAL kinda money, but still GOOD MONEY... there's only going to be a handful of those guys making that kind of dough.. that's it .. in the industry as a whole, there's only a handful of REAL, MEGA successful domainers - doesn't mean buying a domain name is UNPROFITABLE because it's not going to make a hundred thousand dollars on each one... that's just ridiculous... maybe my expectations are much more grounded than some of you , and if that's the case, i'm already in a good place, because thinking you're going to sell every name you have for 4 and five figures is just not going to happen and just unrealsitic.

The vast majority of names in this thread won't sell for $50. 99% are worth under reg fee.

Taking the example of the person who posted some good 3d domains I think he has got a handful of names that are worth something, 3dmovie.com sounding the best, I still don't think though that it is worth more than very low 4 figures. It is a a good name, but I don't think it is any blockbuster either, I would say something similar for 3drecorder.com but at a lower price point. I think if there was say 25 names registered for 4-5 years, then there will likely be a profit (Few thousands dollars minus ~$1000 in reg fees).

However people are getting way ahead of themselves thinking the good names are amazing and the lousy names are good.

I challenge the people in this thread who think their names are worth at least $50-$100 each to actually put some of these names up for auction and we will see what happens. Not talk about claims of offers, actual auctions that we can all observe.

And you've got how many 3D names total?
And you've been peddling them for how long now?
And how much money have you made so far?

I love this guy
... thick as a wall

YTD - i have asked ONE person if they were interested - ONE.. and that person is on this thread.
I have been building... site number three is just about finished - another day or two.. and then off to site four.. haven't had time to shop them yet and not only that, it's too early to really do.. there's no market yet... if that's what i was doing, i would be FOOLISH... but not the case.. i have been building and building.. and even better than that, getting better and better and faster and faster with the development .. two fold baby!!

Setting up affiliates... and analytics, and search engine submission .. setting up databases...researching keywords and keystrong.. custom graphics and custom affiliate banners.. etc.. ALL TAKES TIME MAN .. i told you .. this is a process and i'm in it for the long haul... i'm also not, NOT willing to work ... man, i am gunning away with what i have ..lot of work... started reversing gears, actually, now that i started sniffing some money from a handful of affiliates... the ones that start making a few dollars i just may keep... there's power in numbers!!! ... it may actually be better for me to keep putting these up all over the place ... luckily, i'm a graphic designer and web develper by trade.. with that, i have studied SEO for about 5 years and have been doing nothing but research and posting to you all :)

.. listen... i can't speak for everybody... but for me?.. i'm Chasing It man - i'm not gonna wait for it to come to me... i'm gonna go out there and MAKE IT HAPPEN .. i haven't bought all these names with ANY intention of leaving them all sittin' at Sedo - who's parking is just ATROCIOUS!!!

Maybe i'm lucky enough to sell a few of them back quickly - as i have said - i would be more surprised by that right now, then if i didn't sell any... it's just not ready yet... it's close though.. the hype has picked up significant steam... as happy as i am about it, i wish i had more time to get more things in place, so i'm scrambling... but i'm chasing it brother, and if nothing else.. respect THAT!

:)

still love ya though

3dDomains: You're clearly in some sort of manic phase. Calm down, and don't register any more names until the Lithium hits your system...

... that said, I agree 100,000,000,000,000% that development is ALWAYS (as in, never, ever not) the right strategy for any domain and if you're developing, right on brother. You go on with your bad self... Still, the commentary here is about the inherent value of the name platforms themselves, which in most cases, is negative. that doesn't mean you can't put the dev-whip to them and make them earn, but on a domainers forum, expect people to comment more on the domain itself, rather than whatever theoretical potential it has once developed.

... also, domainica is one of a handful of people remaining on Namepros who actually 'gets it' on domain names, so maybe don't call him 'thick'. I'm sure he could trot one or two names out of his portfolio that are worth more than every name you own, combined.

yes, but what percentage of the domains in this thread are likely to get a minimum bid to enter a sedo auction ? $60 ?

2-3% and probably being generous.

Start targeting keywords that people will actually be searching for...

Oddly enough, even if your names are crap, if you're early on dev and get the trustrank clock rolling before everyone else, you probably stand a good chance at coming out well ahead.

Careful with all that scraped content, tho. Add some original stuff (and a lot of it), or else G's going to really kick your ass, eventually. Being early is good, but you have to be early with original and relevant content, not just early with meaningless templated development with no original content (I know I've been crowing orever about what we saw with BANS stores, but trust me on this- don't burn your bridges from the start with low/no-original-content dev that is basically in G's crosshairs from the word go...)

This is the "Whose Registering 3D Names" in case you all forgot!

Everyone's opinion will be different - and everyone is entitled to their own...

HOWEVER, public bashing and name calling to make a point, is not accepted here.

About time you explained this is a 'who is regging 3d thread' all the rest is just bs from trolls

Do you have to wear 3D glasses to watch 3D TV?

All the tv channels which are due to be launched will require an infra red emitter and shutter glasses. Thats why I regged 3dtvkit.com

I'm sorry that your lack of knowledge of domaining makes you want to attack my names and me personally, quite sad.

As for 3D I have a few of them. My reference to 2-3% is based on my obvious limited experience of the business.

A VERY large percentage of the names that are on the thread or related links are in my opinion are generally rubbish and worthless ie 97-98% leaving around 2-3 % that will have value.

FYI India.ind.in has had a number of offers highest of $1000 from a member of this forum, however, it is not for sale.

True, for the next year or 2 glasses/shutters will be a must have. After that, maybe not.

But the shutters and anaglyph glasses will be expensive too.

I decided to dip my toe with 3 domains that could do quite well

ANAGLYPHGLASSES.CO.UK 1300 local searches and 5400 worldwide
3DMONITORGLASSES.COM 46 total exact searches
3DANAGLYPHGLASSES.COM 890 total exact searches

I was quite happy to find that these terms already have search volume, not great, but a start. This is before these things even become mainstream so I can only see these search volumes increase alot.

Oh, sorry, my mistake.

See, I thought you're actually SELLING your 3D names, not developing them. I kinda gathered that by your sig which states "3D domain names for sale". And also the website it links to that states in big, bold letters: "3D domain names for sale".

So you're really NOT selling them. OK. I guess that explains why you've only made $75 on 1 3D sale so far to date.

When I registered 3dtvkit and 3dtvkits, there was virtually no targeted search for the terms.
ie. "3dtvkit" "3dtvkits". Taking a look today, the singular now has 6,400 whilst the plural only has 879.
So an increasing number of people are searching for the terms.
You can actually watch 3D movies on tv now, if you have the right equipment.

This is the results I get from the Google tool,

[3d tv kit] 36 global monthly searches
[3d tv kits] Not Enough data

If you look at the results (that isn't what people are searching for), it is mainly junk results and sites where you have listed the name as, "3d tv kits .com", eg the namepros results,

Google

Click through past the first page and you'll see the results are just duplicate listings. Look through those results and there is only one genuine use of the term by someone unrelated to you.

Of course, users easily can assemble their own 3D TV kits
That is it.
