This doesn't count the innumerable NDAs that exist... lol

Interesting that such prices were paid primarily by domain investors - Elequa/FMA does less with his names than I do mine. What a waste.

RT (RussiaToday) is not major Russia TV channel by any means.
Thats a government venture created to be russian official TV for non-russians.. poor content, old news, awful guests.. has nothing to do with major russian channels

The only russian major channel on .TV i aware of is russia.tv - owned by VGTRK - monstrous govt media holding

All others are on .RU which is by default the only real TLD in Russia - .com considered to be much worse than .net (which is weak and rare) - no one in his right mind would develop .com for Russian internet audience, .org has no footprint at all, the rest is non-existent...

.TV has chances as it means what it says - opposed to .ME for instance which doesnt mean "me" for most russians at all

imho... i mean imho.tv :)

Russian owned, russian content and a major development so i'll stick by my 'major russian tv channel'

About rt: The service is aimed at the overseas news market and broadcast through 22 satellite and 230 cable operators throughout the world. In addition to its English-language broadcast, it also runs Rusiya Al-Yaum, an Arabic language channel, and Spanish-language channels. It also runs a documentary channel. RT has 21 bureaus in 16 countries, with "presences" in Washington, D.C., New York, London, Paris, Delhi, Cairo, Baghdad, Kiev and other cities. It employs over 2,000 media professionals worldwide. It broadcasts to 430 million people in over 100 countries. RT America is available to 50 million people in the United States.[4]

RT is the second most-watched foreign news channel in the United States, after BBC News.[5] The network's YouTube channel has gained over 700 million views

Seems major, Russian an tv channel to me. IMHO

Elequa is a special case: he is a true domain collector :)

No, he's a domain "artist" or a "architect of "future media".

If I had his money I'd be retired not playing around in .TV.

Public.tv just got registered for about $6500 by worldstyle.tv. IMO that domain is a perfect fit for the extension and I've drooled over it for ages. Can't believe it lasted this long! Let's see what it becomes...

I'm surprised it lasted this long also. It's really a great name but a little generic for my tastes..

RT is a major TV station and thats evident if you leave Russia or the USA.. Its on all Asia cable and satellite channels and is one of the only channels I watch to get up to the minute news.. They cover a host of world events and to me it beats any banker controlled channels that come out of the US or UK... Just go to their youtube channel and you can see they are very up to date with what is happening around the world.. Ofcourse they are not for the Russian audience and that's obvious because they speak English..

and there is no RT in China (at least i've never managed to find it there)
..so out of US, China, Russia - whats left for "major channel"? :)

not sure about South America though. but i have them in Thailand right now

ok, by major russian channel i mean channels popular in Russia.. thats terminology thing, lets call RT "major russian channel".. with no presence in Russia :)

RT is owned by the government, i watch them regularly when i'm out of Russia (where they are not even avail) which is most of the year. the fact they are in every cable all over the world is a matter of money they pay for access. being backed by the govt they got tons to spend. they wouldnt mind buying RT.tv for 100 or 300K really
it's not commercial venture, it's a political thing. i dont know which is worse.. bankers controlled CNN or government controlled RT

major channels (in Russia) are:

1tv.ru
russia.tv/russia2.tv
ntv.ru
tvc.ru
tnt-online.ru
ctc.ru

..sorry i can be well off topic probably :)

We can keep discussing this :)

http://rt.com/about/corporate-profile/

RT.com is also in the top 1000 websites (Alexa ranking of 946)and other than their actual "global reach of over 430 million people, or 22% of all cable subscribers worldwide" the number of youtube views has already exceeded half a billion, making RT the first TV news channel to break this record in YouTube’s history.

Im also in Thailand.

RT is available in uk / Europe.
I watch it now and then for some major news events which uk media dont seem as interested in.
