Of course, I will not be responding to their message, because I don't want to just give them my domain for free.
I originally registered this domain within a few days of registering several other llln.com names. I liked this particular one because it was pronounceable and had a "1" at the end. I only recently made the mental connection that my domain is a kind-of mispelling of 1und1, which is the German version of 1and1, which is the only way to spell 1&1 when you put it in your web-browser. I parked the domain at Sedo with "und1" as the keyword because I wasn't sure what else to use. It had fair traffic from the beginning and gets around 170-280 uniques a month. I also bought und1 in .net, .biz and .info flavors as well, in case I wanted to develop them or someone wanted to buy them as a group in the future (I've done that with several of my short names). I guess my point is, I had no malicious intent when I reg'd the domain.
After I got the email, I checked uspto.gov to see what their actual trademark is. It's 1&1 (with the ampersand) and that's the only way they use it except for here on the net. It has an archive.org history but it's just an email link on each page.
Do you think they have any cause to try and seize my name? Is this an attempted robbery? How should I proceed? Should I contact their company or wait to see what happens? Should I contact ICANN or my registrar? Opinions anyone?
