Plus I got other sites now that are all over the place. For instance, I got a lawn mower .info site (you heard that right, don't ask) that got 63 clicks today. No doubt more bots.

What's the deal, Donny? Any idea when the numbers will stabilize? Sorry if this has all been discussed already, but I haven't been keeping up with the forums lately.
...
Silver-lining point, in addition to what's been said by others already:

As irritating as they are, bots do give us some useful information that we cannot otherwise obtain on low-traffic domains: presumably realistic average RPC numbers (unless they are programmed to do searches in the search box rather than click on links).

To get that though, one needs to follow the stats fairly frequently, as someone or something seems to be fighting a valiant battle against the bots and removing the resulting stats on a name-by-name basis after a few hours.

I have been reading past pages in the thread, but perhaps I missed it. But how do you properly insert your Commission Junction affiliate ad? Regardless of whether I insert the javascript or the HTML, it merely displays the code on the page. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

I can't seem to get this to work no matter what I do; if someone could PM me step by step instructions, I sure would appreciate it. I can't find any way to actually get HTML into the content area - it's not like HTMLEdit, there's no edit source option. Inserting the image and then adding the link doesn't work either.

parked.com is good for well-targeted names, especially american traffic. it's quite hard to get a 1-click lander, but if you do, it often pays well. if a domain gets >100% clickthrough, parked rocks, cause they pay for all clicks. i have one name that usually gets like 4 or 5 clicks per visitor, at $.32 each.

i'm convinced that if they gave me a 1-click lander for rides.org it would do well at parked, but since that doesn't seem to be happening i have it at nd and its earnings are way up. it really depends on the name.

How do you get a one click lander?

Ive talked to my rep when i have wanted my one click landers converted to 2 click landers and he has no problem doing it. I do not see why the would not change 2 click to 1 click. I have had my domains parked at 1 click landing sites for a long time and i seem to be getting more clicks with the 2 click landers. But you are right it depends on the name.

True, my 2 click landers do very well.

Same here.

It's counter-intuitive, but it's true.

1-click landers look better in most cases, but in order for the ads to be relevant there needs to be a lot of advertiser competition for the generic term in the domain.

Yahoo cannot offer 1-click landers for the vast majority of domains, because most ads wouldn't be relevant and advertisers would have to pay for low-quality (not targeted) clicks.

The 2-click process allows motivated visitors to get more relevant ads.

Which is probably why they pay well.

You can change from 1-click to 2-click landers by asking your account manager, but not the other way round.

I always recommend people use 2 click over 1 click, that's what we do with all of our own domains. But if you have some random non-sense for a domain, a 1 click is perfect. :)

Thanks, but that still doesn't work for me. I don't think it's going to work without access to HTML.

This should work, it worked for me:

Copy the affiliate code from the window that the network gives you.

Paste it into an empty Notepad window and save that with a .html extension.

Then open it in your browser, select all and copy.

Then you can just paste it into your Parked window.

That'll definitely work (maybe...)

Could someone pm me a Parked domain that has CJ ad(s) in the content?
I'm thinking of signing up but would like to have some idea of what their
ads look like.

Thanks...

CJ are an affiliate network so they give you access to adverts from hundreds of different companies.

A lot of the companies will want to approve your website manually, but some will just automatically accept you.

The ad's are available as banners in all the usual shapes and sizes as well as text links and some content links.

Their website can be very slow at times and sometimes stops completely. I've given up with them and I use other networks now.

There are loads of other affiliate networks, not just CJ.

Can you recommend some others based on your experience? Do you know
of any that allow you to advertise on parked sites - another member told
me that Amazon does.

The ads vary by the company you are choosing to advertise. Some have a wide-array of ads to choose some, others only have a few. Just about every link in my sig has a cj.com ad of some sort or another.

Another good ad network is www.performics.com and for packrat being Canadian - www.canadiansponsors.com

I gave up on the CJ banners I couldnt get it right either. For me I think it was the banner hosting url i kept getting wrong. I think you host the CJ banner elsewhere, then insert it as a graphic into Parked and then assign your aff link to the graphic.

The edit source button is gone as WhiteBark said earlier is this a temporary situation or has Parked removed it permanently? anyone know?

Let everyone have a good Sunday

Heres what i do to get my banner on Parked

#1 get the HTML code from whatever company you use it should look like this
<a href="http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-XXXXXX-104XXXXX" target="_top">
<img src="http://www.lduhtrp.net/image-XXXXXX-104XXXXX" width="125" height="125" alt="Lose weight with Medifast!" border="0"/></a>

#2 Go to Parked Custom Content of the page you want the banner on. Click the add an image button on the editor. It will open a window and ask for a URL simply add the image URL or img src url from the HTML= http://www.lduhtrp.net/image-XXXXXX-104XXXXX. Click OK that will enter the banner picture to your content.

#3 Next you need to hyperlink the banner. Simply click on the banner until you see the squares on the corners and click the hyperlink button . Add the a href URL from the HTML = http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-XXXXXX-104XXXXX.

#4 Your banner should work fine after this. Check Out My getadegreeonline.net link below for example.

First time I seen bots attack my names. When I woke up from my nap I checked my stats and it showed 65 clicks. Was amazed at first then realized my iniques didn't move so bots had hit my stuff.

Then an hour later or so my revenue and clicks were back to normal levels.

These bots clicking surly makes yahoo and parking companies dislike them so much.

Glad my stats were revised.

I've had no bots visit me till now. They probably don't know where Madeira Island is, or maybe they're on their way but got lost in the middle of the Atlantic! :hehe:
