NP member doesn’t pay for $6,000 deal.

After consulting with NP management, I got permission to post this. The reason for posting is to give this NP member a last chance to do the right thing. I'll try to keep it short and to the point so I left out any unnecessary messages.

Almost 3 months ago (13 May) I sold Taiwan.tv for $6,000 to NP member Jandy, he came to me through another NP member, who posted Taiwan.tv for me on a Taiwanese forum.

Jandy asked me if he could have a few days before paying me and I agreed.
His message on 21 May:
------
sorry for the late reply....
can you give me some days?
because I just bought a ring for my girlfriend for $3000
so I don't have enough cash now....
I need time to sell my domains or get the cash from my work....
------

After two reminders, on 18 June Jandy asked for an additional one month:
------
sorry....just one month...
I still don't have enough cash...
------

As he looked to me as a reputable member and I didn't need the money urgently, I agreed.

After one month, I asked him to start the escrow:
------
Hi Jandy,

After we reached a deal on Taiwan.tv over 2 months ago (13 May) and the
additional month for which you requested is now passed as well, it's time
to finish this deal as this is already taking a long time.

Can you start the escrow, my escrow email address is:
******

Thanks, John.
------

Jandy replied on 20 July:
------
sorry for late reply....
because I am busy on my wedding....I don't have much time on internet....
an in fact...I still don't have enough cash.....
now I still don't have $6000....and some of them also need spending on wedding...so….still can give me more time?thanks
------

After which I asked for a commitment on a specific date on which he would start the escrow:
------
Hi Jandy,

Just to keep it clear now for both of us, can you let me know the exact
date when you will start the escrow?

Regards, John.
------

After that he kept quiet for over 2 weeks.

What worried me is that I noticed he is buying domains here at Namepros:
http://www.namepros.com/domain-names-wanted/496818-general-pro-domains-wanted.html

and through his signature as well:
NNN.net/LLL.net/NNN.biz/LLL.biz Wanted
please PM...thanks

So I sent him this message on 1 August:
------
Hi Jandy,

Just noticed that you are buying domains now:

http://www.namepros.com/domain-names-wanted/496818-general-pro-domains-wanted.html

so you should be able to finish our Taiwan.tv deal.

John.
------

and I posted on his sales thread on 3 August.

I also sent him this message:
------
Hi Jandy,

We are now almost 3 months further after we reached an agreement and you
have ignored my emails and PM's for over 2 weeks now.

I still hope you will do the right thing and honor our deal by starting
the escrow for Taiwan.tv or at least communicate with me with a day you
will start the escrow or a payment plan which is fair and acceptable.

If you are still ignoring my emails and PM's, I feel sorry that I'm left
with no choice then to report you in the 'Warnings and Alerts' section.

Best regards, John.
------

He replied almost immediately with:
------
sorry...but I have not used the net for about 1-2 week....not everyone will use net everyday.... even I still not sleep yesterday because my work....

and I am hurry to get the cash.....
now I don't feel good to get so much these kind of mail....
first...I will apologize for the offer that I maed...then I will hold my offer now...
------

He also send this message on the same day:
------
yes...I posted on NP....but when?I think the date is 07/25/2008
from the post...I reply to anyone?or have got any domains?
now I still have many pm in my account.....besides sell the domain...I also have the job to get cash....

from the deal....how often do you send the mail?
I have told you the reason....and I have say sorry to the late...
if you don't want to wait....you can sell to others...I am tired of it.....
you don't need to threaten........
------

My reply:
------
Hi Jandy,

The last time you were online at Namepros was Sunday 3 August.

I think I already showed I don't mind to wait as I have already waited for
3 months ;)

but the only thing for you to do now is to give me a day when you will be
able to finalise our deal, that's all!

When can you have the cash to finalise this deal?
------

And he replied back on the same day:
------
when I am oniline-->mean what???
do you know weather I have time?

you say that you have showed you don't mind to wait.....
maybe...but for me...just feel that I always get the hurry mail
------

My last message to him:
------
Hi Jandy,

Please don't avoid my question and let me know the day we can finally
finalize our deal.

After 3 months of waiting it's not that much to ask.
------

Jandy, you can still do the right thing and finalize our deal.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
johnTV from the sounds of it, you have been very patient with jandy

3 months is a long time.

Lets hope Jandy does do the right thing by you and finalise the sale.

All the best with it.

Cheers
Corey

You have been exceptionally patient and understanding through this.

Seems like one excuse after another from Jandy, also not good at all to be buying names whilst saying you have no money.

Bottom line, if you can't afford to pay for something don't buy it.

Thanks for the warning John.

good luck. it doesn't sound like jandy will ever come up with the $6000 as agreed upon... at least not any time in this century... you see, after the wedding he'll need money for the honeymoon, and then if they have children he'll have to pay for that, and then when they need a new house... and then...

I think you have been more than patient on this John. I would never agree to buy a domain if I didn't have the available funds. It is outrageous that you have had to wait so long without a successful outcome and the probability that you may have missed out on an even better deal for this domain over the last 3months.

3 months! You have all the right to end this deal and expose the truth as you have. You a premium domain, that would sell for more then $6000! If you had the time to wait 3 months, I would recommend you wait more . GEO .TV names are selling well in the aftermarket. Close your eyes, and let the World be the Judge in this Case.

Put it back up for sale if i was you, and sell it.

When he comes back with the cash and if you have not sold it already, then the deal is done.

Wow you seemed to be pretty patient for this, anyone would have just sold it to another person. Hope Jandy makes the right decision.

johntv you're a patient man, i guess the most logical thing to do is sell it to another, the deal is off since you waited long enough.

sorry to know these happened to you.

Wow sucks he didn't pay....you didn't push the domain to him yet did you????

All jandy had to say was something along the lines of "I am going to have to cancel the offer I made you, sorry."

Yet he continues to give you dumb excuses, just stop contacting him, and try to get this joker banned from here.

it sounds to me like he was never gonna buy it.

Sorry to hear about this John. Thanks for posting the warning about this user.

I think you should forget him and sell it off to someone else and then if he comes you can give him a copy of his message.

Thanks for bringing it up though. If he was not able to buy it he should have told you in 2 or 4 days. That is maximum one person needs to know his financial standing in order to raise 6K.

Thank you all for the posts. Jandy has not been online at Namepros after my thread, although I have send him two emails, which he, no surprise, also ignored.

I will leave negative TR and move on.

One lesson learned for me is that I will not give any buyers as much time to pay anymore as I did now :)

glad that you're able to resolve it and lesson learned. :tu:

Best of luck in this deal. Whats sad is if jandy did not beat around the bush you might have even sold it to someone else if. Best of luck and much success.

John,
It's been quite a while since we discussed about Taiwan.tv last time.
As a Taiwanese, I can understand how desired Jandy want to buy the domain back. Besides, $6000 is not a small amount compared to Taiwanese's income, especially when he was getting marry. Just a quick advice here, maybe you should start finding another buyer rather than waiting for him still. You should be able to find one in no time for such a good domain.

Jandy,
No offense, but I suggest you show up to get all the issues clear. You should tell John earlier if you really have a difficulty to make it. I believe John is the only one has such patient for this. I have to agree, 3 months waiting period is really not an acceptable answer for any domainer.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to sell it for double! :D

That sucks - sorry to hear about it. Being messed around like that is never fun. I hope you're able to re-sell this for at least the $6k asking price.

Dump Him

After reading your post I think you should dump him and sell it to someone else. This is why I am afraid to spend more than $300 on the internet because I don't know who I can trust. This is the other side of what a buyer might feel.

However whenever I agree to buy something I buy it and when I agree to pay someone I pay them.

Does Jandy know about this thread?

early on a simple note saying he couldn't go through with the deal would of been (bad) but so much better than playing you on.

Bad Business.

Reputation is everything in this industry.
