Let me tell you one small story: the other day I raised the price of several of my domains.

But before that I had sent some email offers to potential buyers with the lower price.

One of them responded interested in the low price offer. I answered that I would honor the offer I made him via email even though the price had gone up.
I will lost some thousand bucks if we finally make a deal with the old price but I think is the honest thing to do with somebody I reached with the old underrated price.

So that is the main question: do you think honor is valued in this business?

thats a trick question. Money honour is a negative life honor and vice versa. :)

The question also should be about honoring the price.

This is a real world example of my pain.

I sold a domain for $x, due to pressure of renewals, and lack of $.

No credit card, no help!

The buyer bought it for $x, and quickly wanted to flip, and priced it $1xx,xxx.

If I wanted to buy back the same domain, will the old buyer honor earlier price? NO!

We live in a *thankless* world, ....,

Lesser said, "someday" ; )

Hi

the buyer didn't set the price, you did.
so why should they honor a price that they didn't set?

also depends on how much time elapsed between you wanting to buy it back.

still, the cost to "replace" a domain back in the portfolio is a factor i will consider when pricing names for sale.

since "good" domains often increase in value, then if you sell at "today's market value" the proceeds may not be enough to purchase a similar quality domain back in the portfolio

imo....
