They have been able to rid babies born HIV positive of the HIV virus for some time as well. It will be a great day when they are able to cure this horrible disease.

We talked about this in health class, our teacher told us that this has happened before once, but the chances of having this happen are somewhere in 1 in 2 billion.... this happens because HIV has to attach itself to blood cells in order to start infecting the body. These people who are very lucky, genetically, do not have what HIV needs to attach to blood cells. That's basically what happens :)

Where did you learn this?
Do you have any evidence to back it up?

I believe to be true also. It happens when babies are born to mothers with AIDS/HIV. If it's caught and the babies are treated early for some reason the virus just doesn't stick.

I don't have any websites to point you to cuz I haven't looked for one. But... I had a relative who worked as an RN in ICN (Intensive Care Nursery) at Kaiser Hospital for 20 years. She mentioned this same thing to me a very long time ago.

A truly incredible story. For the sakes of humanity, this guy should go in for further tests. A miracle has happened to him. He could at least try to do the same to others.

No, I don't think he's rid of the virus but I do think his wealth give him access to the very best medications and latest advancements.

hmm.. I just thought ha... he wouldn't want to undergo further test.. but it's always an SOP for any laboratory or doctor to get a second opinion... This also applies to laboratory tests.. for negative and postive control sera..

also, as i recall the HIV virus has it's core and envelope. is it the same thing with hepa B virus..

When you take the hepatitis profile tests.. there would be an event when the Virus becomes undetectable but this doesn't mean that he is already free from it..

What they're probably doing now is taking out some samples from the guy in an effort to extract antibodies or lead them in a better direction for a cure.
